• Large new reserves of oil and gas were discovered in Dera Ghazi Khan’s mountains, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The reserves were discovered in the Yuk Bai area of Koh-e-Suleman in Dera Ghazi Khan district and the OGDCL without wasting any time had started to dig wells.

Local MPA Sardar Ahmad Ali Derashik the discovery can be regarded as a game-change for the region.

He further elaborated in his discussion that these findings will help in spurring the economic growth of the country.

He urged the people to pray for the success of this project as wells as of the government.

Here we go again When the dust settles it will probably be a few million barrels of oil. Not saying it’s nothing, but something on the order of the Sui gas fields would be the minimum to be considered Huge IMHO. As for the term game changer; if we don’t need to import any oil, then that should be the minimum to be considered a game changer IMHO.

So plz enlighten us what 'Pakistan Oilfields (DG Khan Block)' has to do with this news story of 24NewsHD TV and what point you were trying to get across by typing the name of 'Pakistan Oilfields (DG Khan Block)' in large bold font when the name of company was never mentioned in the news report.

To answer 'why the hell not?' , if you would just have spent more than 3 seconds reading this news story, you would have learned that the news story was broken to the news reporter by a local MPA Mr. Sardar Ahmad Ali Derashik. It was not announced by OGDCL or Pakistan Oilfields Limited. Most of important/confirmed oil discoveries in Pakistan are announced by OGDCL or other oil exploration ventures and not by local MPAs,

And 'why the hell not?' because that MPA was also urging people to pray for the success of this project. If he was certain about the presence of these 'discovered' petroleum reserves are confirmed, he wouldn't have to resort to praying for the success of exploration.

What is the production capacity, or the recoverable reserves?

They call every find a huge discovery, even if its just 1 barrel per day, the title always reads huge discovery, that's ridiculous.

A huge discovery is if it has production capacity of over 100,000 barrels per day, lets stop celebrating stupid things.

While I cannot agree with you more it will take 15-20 years to convert all oil using industry into solar driven. So there is still utility in hydrocarbons.
