Chinese global giants in India, like Huawei and Alibaba, which potentially have a direct or indirect link with the Chinese army, could soon face action. These companies are among the seven Chinese companies that the Indian intelligence sources have highlighted for having deep links with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
These seven Chinese companies are Xindia Steels, Xinxing Cathay International, China Electronics Technology Group, Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent, and SAIC Motor Corporation. Indian government sources have highlighted that “these companies are under watch and could face potential action”.
Chinese telecom company Huawei reported a revenue of Rs. 12,800 crore in the Financial Year (FY) 2018-19 from its Indian operators. The company, founded by Ren Zhengfei, who was a former deputy director at the People’s Liberation Army engineering corps, is facing global issues on 5G with countries like the US, Japan, UK, and Australia acting on it in various ways. Alibaba has made investments in Indian startups including popular ones like PayTM, Zomato, Big basket, Snapdeal, Xpressbees. Tencent has made mega investments in the Indian tech space, including a $400 million investment in Ola Cabs and a $700 million investment in Flipkart.
But it’s not just the tech or mobile sectors where the Chinese companies with links to the PLA are present. SAIC Motor Corporation, a Chinese state-owned automobile company headquartered in Shanghai, sells the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), MG Hector, in India. One of the company’s subsidiaries is Nanjing Automobile, which was previously a vehicle servicing unit of the PLA. Employees of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) have been convicted of military espionage and it provides technology that is believed to be used for human rights abuses in the restive western province of Xinjiang in China. The company had invested Rs. 320 crores in a manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh in 2018.

This comes even as India last month banned 59 Chinese apps including the widely popular TikTok app after a violent face-off at the Line Of Actual Contol (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh in which 20 Indian soldiers had died. Chinese forces also suffered casualties but haven’t come out with a number.

if it hurts India you should be happy about it. Drawing lines from global times and xinua is what all chinese posters are doing on pdf. simply put all these posters are pla cadres.

lets see how long xi survive, after US, Australia, UK and now India putting it in its place. If there is any attack on his life it wont come as surprise.

Because the intent you have is so obvious it’s boring. @Areesh your mate mighty lion banned and guess what ? Drumstick is back.
Another thread to attempt to big up China and get members to stick their mighty 32 inch chests out.
One has to understand any sanctions on Chinese companies will logically hurt India more than China. One can pretend or dream that China will bleed economically - perhaps it may be effected slightly - however the effect on India’s economy would be the equivalent of having its head chopped off.

Dude from now on can you please post these threads in the China and Far East forum. This is the Chinese defence forum as I'm sure you are aware ... nothing in this article relates to Chinese defence.

Because it has nothing to do with Chinese defence. Just because your article says the companies have a link to the Chinese military does not make it worthy of being posted in the Chinese defense thread. If you have any article or assessment on the Chinese military, you can post it here but for these political articles they belong in the China and Far East Forum. This particular forum is meant to talk about Chinese military or technology developments rather than political means. Surely you can recognize a pattern in the threads here?

India is in an alternate surreal universe. It thinks it can do things just by wishful thinking! Very foolish people, and no wonder it's such a backward and poor country.

Thread moved to appropriate section.

@drumstick

No link in the original post? Is this your OPINION?

I suggest you give this thread OPINION tag if you do not present a source.

All I see these days from the otherside is :"China, look at me,I am important!".
:lol:

This ban will be great for India. Anything we get from China can be made in India with the talent, resources, and money we have. All we need to do is give incentive for our private industries to set up large scale manufacturing.
