How will US election affect Turkey?

It is not the candidate you have to watch, but his "team", he is but chairman of a "board" he (or the party) put in place.

Thanks for saying something this thread has been missing. All I can say is, watch "west wing" if you want to get a little understanding of how a president rules a country, through his aides. They're the brain and the president is the face. It's the same with PM and Turkey.

Just because the PM is "good" doesn't mean the people underneath him are good as well. btw "west wing" is a quite patriotic series.

^Well, İstanbul was the first place Obama visited :) He also refused to recognize "genocide". These look like good signs to me...

I think status Quo is good for Turkey, better it continues :)

No US president can recognize the Armenian Genocide....I personally don't think it will happen until Israel does so, and Turkey's strong and deep alliance with Israel would never allow that.

Obama personally has recognized it as a genocide.

Romney is much more pro Israeli and pro Turkey (more than other presidents ever) and if elected would put Turkey a better position in US against the Armenian lobby and in pro Turkish foreign policies.

I voted Obama (as a republican turned independent years ago) and I thank you Turks for supporting Obama.

lol. We are so deep allies with israel, the moment they feel insecure they start military exercises with Greece in order to keep us in check..

Anyway what i think is irrelevant, since I'm not gonna vote... Just wanted to say I've been pleased with the actions of Obama adminstration so far. But as i expressed in my first post Turkey-US relations are pragmatical. We are allies since Korean war and it's very doubtful that any US president or Turkish prime minister would want to change that..

Good for you..And you`re most welcome

Armenian farce will never get recognized , in US theyfind it important to have freedok of speech and Turkey's friendship is more valuable than Armenian bitterness.

Even if it get's , turkish/armenian relationship will get worse and the only people who will suffer from that are Armenians in Armenia.

If armenians continue like this, another war will come and we will give azeri back what is rightfully theirs

What you are talking ? Obama and Tayyip are like bosom friends. USA under the administration of Obama is much closer to Turkey than ever, Even If Erdogan proceed an anti-Israel policies. For this reason, The oppositions are examining his religion. Obama is fighting against congress to supply some urgent weapon systems Turkey demands. Remember, Obama arranged the first visit to Ankara, After elected.

Actually the relations between Obama adminstration and AKP Adminitstation are so good that Obama listed Erdogan as one of his closest friends, While on the other hand Republicans have been nothing but Pro-Israeli fanatics troughout history. Right wing are generally more open minded thats why it has good relationship with seculair Turkey.

Obama is better for Turkey.

Romney will be fooled and lied into starting another disastarous war in the Middle East with Iran just like how the Neo-cons tricked Bush into invading Iraq by painting these stories that they will be greeted with flowers.

Obama is smarter than Romney.

Barack Obama:
"The greatest monument to Atatürk's life is not something that can be cast in stone and marble. His greatest legacy is Turkey's strong, vailant, secular democracy and this is the work that this assembly carries on today."

He certainly knows better than Erdogan, the impact Atatürk created on Turkey's and world's history. An inspiring speech too.

He's also aware of Turkey's renewable energy sources better than nuclear-investing Erdo :)
