How will Turkey respond to Assad's Idlib operation?

Turkey does not have any stake in Idlib other than preventing massive refugee flow due to operations there. It is clear that there wont be any change in Syrian regime through political reconciliations. Assad will not give any political power to groups which supported for a change in Syria in the first place. Assad is strongly and will be strongly in the seat for many years to come. Turkey should accept it, cooperate with Syria to dismantle PKK statelet in Syria. Turkey's only stake in Idlib is refugee and militant flows in Turkey, due to Idlib operations. However, it is clear that Erdoğan is stubborn to accept the reality on the ground;he is still trying to delay Syrian regime gaining back Syria under its control, while at the same time complaining about PKK statelet in Northern Syria. Erdoğan need to drop his emotional and meaningless personal belligerence against Assad and do what is more beneficial for Turkey !!!

And you think a full syria under Assad in the south is what is most beneficial to Turkey

Assad hates Turkey atm and will be hostile to it once he regains full control and power ( even if diplomatic relations are restored he won't forget turkey's part in helping the revolution)

Thus you will end up with someone empowering the PKK in the south and a big country as a declared enemy from its foreign policy to its helping of pkk

Also 3 million in Idlib will be more than ok to save their lives and run to turkey as soon Assad starts knocking Idlib door

Yep, reconcile with Assad, only for another uprising or civil war and refugee crises 30 years down the line. It is obvious many Sunnis in Syria can not live under the Assad dynasty. You think Assad’s Syria who have been giving safe haven to PKK since its emergence will now “join” Turkey and fight the PKK, the very same terrorists they helped create.

The only solution for Turkey is to militarise the areas we have captured so Assad, Iran and Russia don’t dare set eyes on it. Similar to what Israel has done in the Golan heights.

Turkish stakes in Idlib, Afrin, Jarablus and Al Bab are that for the next 100 years Syria and PKK will talk about these areas and dream of adding Hatay to their wonderland.

Do you seriously expect that Turkey can remove Assad from the seat, short of all out war? Yes. Accept the fact that Assad will be there for many years to come, and Turkey will pay the price of being on the opposite side by new generations of Syrians hating the guts of Turks. The other choice is neighbouring a PKK state on your borders. The foreign policy is based on capabilities and realities, not emotions and wishes. The current mess we are in is due to the fact of acting on emotions and wishes. Turkey under the leadership of Erdoğan made a bet against Assad to the detriment of Syria's destruction. Can you elaborate what did we gain by prolonging the war based on personal vengeance against Assad and stubbornness to deny the reality, resulting the immense destruction of Syria as a state?

Seriously stfu, I’m fed up of low life leftist dribble on Syria, you care about Assad’s Syria more then Turkey lol, your all Assad apologists and don’t mind a butcher on our doorstep simply because ideology, no different then islamists who don’t mind ISIS scums, you never address the years of support Assad’s Syria gave to PKK and act as if everything was roses and honey before the war. The years of oppression Baathist Arabs gave Turkmens before the war.

About hating Turks? Baathists and Alawite Syrians always hates Turks, get your history in check first, you have no idea of even the demographics of the area, they would prefer Israelis to Turks. Have a look around the forum, what do all Arab nationalists, salafists, wahhabists have in common? A hatred for Turks and Persians they would open all 3 holes for Americans and Israelis.

Syria mess would have happened if Turkey intervened or not, one minute you complain about Turkey not intervening the next you complain that Turkey has got involved. You think Turkey has the luxury not to take a side on a crises on its doorstep while countries from 1000s of miles away do to protect and mold the future in their favour?

Why did Assad support PKK before the war? How could Turkey stop the flow of refugees? How could Turkey stay silent? How could Turkey stop the flow of 100s of American and European agents flowing into Syria? How could Turkey predict the war would turn around when Assad’s own palace became a front line? How could Turkey predict Russians and Iranians would throw everything behind Assad?

Just stfu, you should have been born in Latakia not Turkey. Cut your crap in using this as a cheap jab on Erdogan, have some respect for the Turkish army at least (if your even a real Türk, doubt it) no one gives a f*ck what you think.

The point for Erdogan and Turkey opposing Assad, is so if Assad was removed from power, the zionists would not have control over Syria. Similar to Iran opposing Saddam and now Iraq is faced with the option of being aligned with Iran vs being a puppet state of Washington like Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Erdogan was the hope of Syria if Assad was removed. I do not support the removal of Assad because I don't hate Shia. If Assad were a puppet of Turkey and a Sunni, the Turks would be supporting Assad in this zionist led civil war. Yes, the crime of supporting the PKK is huge, but the mainstay was the Assad father, and I doubt Assad Jr. would be supporting the PKK if that is part of the agreement for a unified Syria under Assad. Afrin could be the bargaining chip to force Assad to never again support the kurdish terrorists.

Turkey should not involve themselves in a war between brother Muslims. The kurds are zionists, so are not really Muslims for the zionism is about blowing up the Dome of the Rock to rebuild the jewish temple.

Idlib is do or die situation for Turkey and Turkey's lack of support to the rebel fighter is not good. Turkey should take firm stand in a similar way as Iran and Russia is taking and supporting killer Asad and Terrorist Shia Militias from Iraq, Lebanon, Iran, Pakistan n Afghanistan etc. who are being given a free hand to kill majority Sunni Muslim population. Reports are there that the Kurdish Militias trained by Asad & Iran will take part to attack Idlib from Western Aleppo. Once Turkey losses this region. PKK, PYD, YPG n Asad wil be more powerful to contain Turkey and even start a full fledge insurgency within Turkey. US, Russia, Iran are not Turkey's friend and want to destroy Turkey n make Israel, PKK n Shias more powerfull and controlling the region. They are on the same page to conspire against Turkey. Instead of declaring HTS terrorist group, it must be armed fully along with NLF as both are fighting together this final battle of Sunnah in Syria. They want to control the region and harm Turkey. This is the last chance for Turkey to act with a firm hand and provide air cover to at least the civilian population against Terrorist Asad & Terrorist Putin Air Forces.
It will be defeat of Turkey and its respect to abandon the checkpoints and callback the Army from Idlib once Killer Asad forces enter the area.

Turkey cannot let Idlib fall period. The result would be an impeachable offense if Erdogan sits back and does nothing. Turkey will have another hostile force on it's southern border after PKK, at least another million refugees who will never return because they can't live under Assad and lose their international standing and looked as a Nation that can't back itself up in clutch situations. Basically a Disaster all around.

I don't know if negotations with Iran and Russia on a ceasefire are dead or not. But part of me thinks that Turkey/Iran/Russia might work something out with territorial "swaps" kinda like what happened in Bosnia where the Americans essentially allowed for 2 rival sides to gain/lose territories in order to cement a more realistic ceasefire on the ground.

heheh still ppl think I am too harsh and insane for insisting on a minefield

if you have a wall behind the wall a minefild and some official guarded entry points then its safe for everyone except those who have bad intentions..

you can build some hidden routes for our military or else if you want to.. and there is no problem with the future you just use the existing official safe roads for in and out..

Lol maybe more patrols, cameras and outposts will do, the size of the wall is a joke anyway I’m sure some company pocketed a lot of money with this.

We just spent millions clearing mines from the area, they the human traffickers just need to hire a few ex professionals and they will find out where to trespass. It has reduced smuggling a lot we should make bigger ones across Iraq to.

We should have spent 500.000 for more mines.. And just clear a path through it with an outpost my version is the ultimate defence against smugglers and professionals they would be slowed downand that would mean more time for camera team and our forces

We should start a refugee export company. Atleast that'll help get in hot forex which would stabilize the TL and allow the government to feed more fuxking refugees. Who wants to pitch this idea with me and become rich ??
