I read the series long before the HBO series and It was obvious to me back then that Lyanna and Rhaegar are the parents of John Snow.

Im not sure why people are praising episode 9 so much this season, it was o.k but had some problems. The battle between John and Ramsay had the worst infantry encirclement scene I have ever seen. Why were the wildlings bunched up in a massed ball? Why were the Bolton Infantry so few? Didnt they say 2v1 before the battle?

Also, Dany fighting off the slavers in slaver bay was rushed and the matter made trivial. It was no small matter, all slaver cities vs Mereen + Astapor (and Astapor quickly fallen) had Danny in a real bad situation. The Giscari legions are meant to be comparable to the Unsullied infantry if I recall correctly.

The best episode that I enjoyed most was 'the broken man' with the hound and the Septon. It was simple and had heart.

A little correction bro.. The Ghiscari legions are not meant to be comparable to the Unsullied..

The Ghiscari legions were elite units of Old Ghis empire before the rise of Valyrian dragonlords. But Old Ghis was destroyed by the valyrian dragons and so were the Lockstep legions. Today's New Ghis is just a shadow of the former Ghiscari empire. The Legions of New Ghis are no more than a cheap inefficient copy of those ancient legendary legions.

Also, it should be remembered that the army against Danaerys has serious discipline and leadership issues. And most of their soldiers are slaves, whose loyalty is extremely suspicious and their will to fight against Danaerys is negligible given that she is regarded as the savior of slaves. And if that wasn't enough, The pale mare is ravaging throughout the siege lines taking a huge toll on their numbers and morale.

A cocktail of all these factors allows the defenders to triumph against a much larger host.

What are the best quotes or monologues according to you guys.?

The heart of this season is Episode 9 without any doubt and after this episode one of the strongest house the northerners have returned so, it will be interesting to see how the great game will go now as all the houses are in the game now. I think season 7 will be more interesting due to involvement of all houses and what shall be the reaction of all houses against the white walkers, will they all unite against this or the northerners alone shall face them

Need to build those special swords to kill white walkers.

Very less action scenes this season..Wow factor was missing through out the season. It was predictable at some points. No whitelings...no deads...Winter is still coming, coming and coming...

Maybe Daenerys Targaryen will come to the northerners aid or maybe the Grayjoy guy will ask her to help the northerners. There are many possibilities but it shall be one of the interesting episode

Good season overall although very predictable now.

Some general observations

The conversations seem to have become less intelligent (miss the good old varys vs little finger dialogues in Kings Landing, now we had to suffer with lame *** Tommen and the holier than thou High Sparrow).

Some very high pay off moments, especially in relation to Jon's parentage, the origin of the whitewalkers, Why Hodor only knows one word etc.

Dorne has been thoroughly abused in the series. Is a fascinating region in the books, with many interesting plotlines. The series has totally ignored these.

The directors seem to be in a rush to finish off this series now. On several occasions this season have characters seemingly flown across the known world within the span of a single episode. Varys in the last episode flies from Dorne to Meeren within the space of 20 minutes. Apparently there will only be two more seasons.

Overall was one of the better if not predictable seasons my favourite episode being number 10 of course (with its fireworks ;) ).

I dont want this series to end but it seems with the ******** at its peak, HBO may not be making enough money.

Yet it is by far their most popular show right now. 7 million legit viewers not to mention the millions who watch online pirated copies. HBOs way around this seems to be a spin off (the big trend nowadays). We have already seen "Better call Saul" and "fear the walking dead" emerge as their predecessors comes to a close. Its more than likely that HBO will do a GoT spinoff, probably the story of Dunk and Egg. Interesting article below
