How to deal with terrorism? The scientific approach

lol...funny comments by members .
I mentioned UK's CCTV as reference and example.True that in sub continent any such measure is very difficult due to general trend of sabotage against the law..

But currently technology has shrunk and gone cheap..CCTV cameras can be very tiny, compared to the ones installed in 80s and 90s in UK...

Can we go for ambitious plans..such as airborne solar powered drones with high resolution cameras?

Also to track down the roots of the suicide bombers we need a comprehensive DNA database...
The problem with the current trend of terrorism is that the perpetrator always dies...they blow themselves up..
If we have a comprehensive DNA database..we can track down their kins and clans and start investigation from there?

and what made you think it is not already being done ?

people responsible for handling these terrorists are smart;

But the scale of the problem and connections is too much.

Any relevant news reports...videos?

The scale of the problem is big but apart from arse licking USA .. what else are we doing to tackle it?

My original question was about the current day technology and gadgetry we can use to tackle this menace..

If USA can build acres of mainframe computers to listen to all calls made in the country, read all emails and texts ant then sniff out suspicious messages and then decide the threat level and alert the authorities...Can we build a similar automated system?

Watch latest Dunya Today for a discussion on the same topic. One of the nteresting suggestion by the host was to learn from Israel.

How was the Irish insurgency countered? Infiltration and the creation and care of informants - and decisive action by state agencies when acting upon information provided by informants.

In the case of Pakistan, are you convinced that all organs of the government want this terror to end? Are you convinced that the state is serious, that there is political unity in wanting to see this end and wanting to see terrorism in all it's manifestations, defeated?

For instance, do you have any suspicions that if secret types wanted the bearded types to come to some harm, that they would have a problem making sure that is what happened to the bearded types?

Do you have suspicions that "politicians" are playing both sides of the field?

And if the bosses are playing both sides of the field, how might the underlings respond to this?

Seems to me that the best kind of terrorist is a dead one - so what gives, how come we see that the leadership cadre - now think about this - continues to remain intact -- you think the leadership cadre grows on trees?

Zia used to say about the anti-soviet Jihad that things in Afghanistan must be maintained at an appropriate temperature, do you have suspicions that a similar understanding is at work when it comes to events in Pakistan? Who was responsible for maintaining that temperature in Afghanistan? Hint, it wasn't the American.

First screen public to identify people sympathetic towards terrorists.
Identify & jail all those hate mongering mulla's.
Close all madrasas.
Make a tab on all foreign contributions esp those grands to build mosques & other religious places & madras and NGO's also to be monitored.
BAN all religious processions, all processions should be video recorded at all possible angles and watched by hordes plain clothed police, this will definitely scare possible miscreants.

There are covert CCTV Cameras in Islamabad ;)... Shame the ones in Lahore and Karachi are not fully operational. The need to take lessons for Dr. Azim Tamuri and IG-P Islamabad Kaleem Imam in placing such systems along an urbanised area.

You stupidity is matched only by your ignorance

99.99% of terrorist belong to wahabi/deobandi/najdi sect. No Shia/Sunni has involved in this dirty jihad.
Picture is very clear, their is no need of scientific approach, just a simple approach to banned all saudi funded wahabi/deobandi madresass.
jackal terrorist can't fight face to face, suicide bomber is a sole lethal weapon of terrorist and wahabi madresass are the nurseries of suicide bombers.
We can't get rid of terrorisms even in thousand years until banned the source of suicide bombers..

The best approach is not the scientific approach, rather the economic approach. If you are "really willing" to stop this menace, you have to make rigorous efforts to choke their funding or their source of funds.

But the fact that they are able to procure funds, equipments, weapons etc and training as well, clearly indicates that some elements (or a lot) of government-servicemen are associated with them. They cannot do this without enjoying some kind of political patronage.

So you if you really want to root out terrorism - choose the right people into power, and hope that they will be able to muzzle the bad dogs in polity.

More importantly, the leaders you choose should have benign vision, devoid of narrow mindedness.

Petro power can't curb their funding even in US.Thousand of saudi funded mosque has spreading jihad culture in west but US & Europe has do nothing about this serious matter.

Look there is a lot of information already present in the forum regarding these.

I think you're verging on beyond the delusional if you think Pakistan can set up a functioning DNA Database. The complexities involved would be a logistical nightmare not to mention the expertise needed.

Any what would happen if there was a "match / hit" on the database? Most rural areas dont even have street names or addresses. People can change identities, create bank accounts, fake NADRA cards as quick as they change their underwear in Pakistan. It would be completely pointless.

Pakistan does use DNA profiling in cases of terrorist attacks for identification purposes but a DNA database is wholly unrealistic in a country of 170 million.

And so in parallel, development and proper education needs to spread, but that is also part of politics and those in governments, providing aid to such criminals will again be roadblocks to such progress.

You need to clean politics, you need to have deserving people in there. If you do that, all else will fall in place.

That is why I said, it is all about politics and the game of money. Naive people think their governments are covering their back, little do they know how much they are being back-stabbed, and how much they themselves help these people back-stab their fellow countrymen.

However, the west has taken some tough steps to ensure, the "jehadi" culture does takes root in their country, especially England.
