Even an otherwise informed person like @Juice cannot see that, if anything, there is some times TOO MUCH freedom of information and speech in Pakistan (showing gory images from terrorism, for example). The military, the judiciary, the political and business classes are viciously attacked in Pakistan without exception.

However, unfortunately, there are these taboos related to religion, such as the Blasphemy Law.

Anyway, please don't massage your egos by pretending to be the only free people and thinking that the rest of the world is gagged. Days for those days are getting over fast the world over, except may be in North Korea....

In this vein, I would posit that American mainstream media is so corporate controlled that there America has selective freedom of speech. Perhaps that is what Chomsky's 'Manufacturing Consent' is about? (I haven't read that book).
