How Saudi Arabia's religious project transformed Indonesia

You have a bias as you believe in your head that they are misguided zombies and hence when they get lynched, you are indifferent to them.

While you are correct that I believe that a lot of the modern Muslim community is misguided, you are wrong in saying that I am indifferent to them. This last I have already written in my previous post.

I am aware of an incident from the Delhi riots. One Muslim young man who was a leader in the BJP's Minority Cell was burned alive by the Hindutva criminals. If he being in the BJP could not save him it is possible that such a thing can happen to a socialist Muslim me even in the Deccan.

The thread is about Indonesia but you have taken upon yourself to preach Gaddafism.

The OP is about how Saudia funded "religious" extremism in Indonesia. Much of what I wrote is different facets of it.

The protestors are nothing short of innocent cows chanting to establish Saudi law and such procession obviously would have been dealt with lead and fire had it unfolded in Saudi . Lil do they know that their beloved mentors pay homage to christian armies to survive.

That is the effort to change our criminal law. We just adopted criminal law from Dutch after our independent and name it KUHP. The process to change that very old criminal law is very challenging as secular nationalist and Non Muslim are afraid that it can be the start to implement Shariah law later. Just like how they are so afraid when we change some content on the constitution in early 2000. They want those things (constitution and criminal law) to be sacred and unchangeable.

But even during secular nationalist rule, they cannot stop the process. Any way, there are many controversial thing on new criminal law, so the public is quite united to reject new criminal law to become effective. And also the mass protest that was going on the parliament during that time were not against the law but the other law, anti corruption law, that is seen to be made to weaken our independent anti corruption body (KPK).

Those two law are compiled as one unit to be sign by President at the same time. The protest about criminal law is just made by small demonstrant which comes from liberal group, while the majority of demonstran are college student who are protesting on Anti Corruption Law.

Western Newspaper/Western media (Including Aljazeera) spin the protest as if it is the protest to reject some criminal law that is against Liberal ideas like what you just said (criminalizing sex for those who make it with illegal partner(not husband and wife) and there is also prohibition for women to go out after 10 PM and others. While the truth is the main demonstrant are protesting Anti Corruption Law. So they try to make the world believe that Indonesian are liberal.

Any way, there are many thing inside the new criminal law that need some fixing like we can get prison if some one else chicken found in our house yard. I think that is too much.

Any way, the new criminal law will be effective soon, maybe around this year. And in this regard, what ever the contain is, Islamist will won, since this process show that our criminal law can be changed, so the opportunity to insert Shariah Law into our criminal law is wide open, or at least some inspired Sharia Law.

I hope they fix the bill, take out the measures that weaken anti-corruption authority, keep the criminalizing of premarital sex---and then pass the bill soon.

Don't care about "world media" or a minority of liberals. They'll cry for one week and then will move on. Never bow down to these liberal bullies who want to impose their secularism on Muslims (as Muslims are the last people standing who actually practice their faith and still have their own religious states. Rest of the world got secularized and liberalized---getting run over by 'sexual revolution' and what not).

A more Islamic Indonesia with a strong economy and independent foreign policy = Giant of Southeast Asia!

A more Islamic Indonesia with a strong economy and independent foreign policy

Traditionally, the more "Islamic" countries have had their foreign policy and internal systems dictated by USA and other Western governments. :)

Lil do they know that their beloved mentors pay homage to christian armies to survive.

Put very aptly.

Look Indonesian Islamist doesnt have any meaningful influence from Saudi. You can see that Indonesia first Islamist Movement was started by Syarikat Islam, founded in 1908. 30 years before Saudi Arabia even exist as state. It is also the most important organization that contribute greatly to Indonesian independent.

Just like with Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Indonesian Islamist movement is very independent.

That article that you read is a stupid article and made to mislead international public, particularly any one who knows nothing about Indonesia politics and history. Even they said Muhammad Natsir as the first Islamist Indonesian leader get influence from Saudi. LOL. The truth is Muhammad Natsir got influence from Haji Agus Salim who is prominent figure in Sarekat Islam.

Saudi though influence Salafist movement in Indonesia, but this group is very small and always obey government and doesnt like demonstration.

PKS is also more related to Muslim Brotherhood then Saudi. They supported Mursi in Egypy, unlike Saudi who want to see MB fall in Egypt.

Sarekat Islam (Islamic Union), formerly Islamists Trade Union (Indonesian: Sarekat Dagang Islam), was a cooperative of Javanese batik traders in the Dutch East Indies and a predecessor of independent Indonesia. The group was founded by Haji Samanhudi, a dealer of batik, in 1905 in Surakarta[1] or 1912.[2] Sarekat Dagang Islam, or Union of Islamic Traders, had as its goal the empowerment of local merchants, especially in the batik industry. The establishment of the organization was inspired by the Jamiat Kheir organization.

As Sarekat Dagang Islam grew, it was reorganized under the name Sarekat Islam. Sarekat Islam's general office was in Surabaya. Early prominent figures of Sarekat Islam included H.O.S. Cokroaminoto[2] and Haji Agus Salim. H.O.S. Cokroaminoto had three famous students, who went on to play a dominant role in Indonesian politics: Sukarno the nationalist, Semaun the socialist and Islamist Kartosuwirjo. Haji Agus Salim joined Sarekat Islam in 1915 and promoted Islamic modernism. Some of Salim's students such as Kasman Singodimedjo, Mohammad Roem and Mohammad Natsir later became prominent Islamic and Nationalist leaders.

Goal and orientation Goal - initial: to raise cooperation level of indigenous batik businessman. Goal - later: 1. Raise the educational and health level of various indigenous people. 2. Raise the political awareness of various indigenous people.

Orientation: first business, later mostly political. They are active as political Islamic movement.

Demise: After Indonesia gained recognition of their Independence, the limit of people's politic is dissolved. Their members and supporters moved to join new political organisations.

No, that article is misleading and cannot be trusted. Please read my above post.

This is another organization set up in 1990 that was created to reach Islamist agenda. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indonesian_Association_of_Muslim_Intellectuals

Once again. Nothing to do with Saudi. Most of them follow Islam Modernist (represented by Muhammadiyah, founded in 1912) and Islam Traditional (represented by Nahdatul Ulama, founded in 1926)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammadiyah

Muhammadiyah (Arabic: محمدية‎, followers of Muhammad. full name: Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah) is a major Islamic non-governmental organization in Indonesia.[1] The organization was founded in 1912 by Ahmad Dahlan in the city of Yogyakarta as a reformist socioreligious movement, advocating ijtihad - individual interpretation of Qur'an and sunnah, as opposed to taqlid - the acceptance of the traditional interpretations propounded by the ulama.[2] Since its establishment, Muhammadiyah has adopted a reformist platform mixing religious and secular education,[3] primarily as a way to promote the upward mobility of Muslims toward a 'modern' community and to purify Indonesian Islam of local syncretic practices.[3

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nahdlatul Ulama (literally translated to Revival of the Ulama, abbreviated as NU) is a traditionalist Sunni Islam movement in Indonesia following the Shafi'i school of jurisprudence.[3] NU was established on January 31, 1926 in Surabaya as a response to the rise of Wahabism in Saudi Arabia and Islamic modernism in Indonesia.[4][5]:59[6] The NU is the largest independent Islamic organization in the world[7] with membership estimates ranging from 40 million (2013)[1] to over 90 million (2019).[2] NU also is a charitable body funding schools and hospitals as well as organizing communities to help alleviate poverty.

The OP says that Saudia has been funding extremism in Indonesia only in modern times - in the last some decades. As you said, Saudia did not exist before 1938.

Also, you mention Muslim Brotherhood. I want to point out that the MB had some influences coming in from India.

The nations with high atheist demographics has the highest rate of growth in asia :Vietnam,China ,Japan,Korea. Their minds are clear and has high IQ to not believe in fanatic ideologies produced by lower IQ states to control populace.Imagine higher IQ East Asia operating in any ideology invented in lower IQ, indian subcontinent,Middle east...Self induced implosion.

新加坡太小了,新加坡应该入侵印度尼西亚 占领一大块土地

What ? Singapore should invade Indonesia ?? ;)

Indonesia has island which is very near to Singapore, it is so much less populated so if Singapore dare to do it, it should be at least take the island from us (there will be military reaction of course from Indonesia) , it has its own water supply, unlike Singapore who depends water supply from Malaysia......

Bintan island, it is still much less populated

Next to Bintan island is Batam island and it has been quite developed and populated. We are planning to build bridge between Batam and Bintan where the construction phase could start in middle of 2022 or early 2023
