How many push ups can you do?

Similar frame to me then. I am 6 with 83 kgs.

That is some laziness you got. Maybe need to see the doctor for anti-laziness pills ... lol.

Haha. Its just that i prefer being lazy IF I HAVE OPTION. otherwise i tend to complete what is required of me (only if deadline push me :P).

I never exercised, (though i walk.... daily 5-6 Km’s atleast). still i am in an acceptable shape so why put your body to discomfort ? ;)

I see your point but if you do it regularly you will become addicted - to pain. The calm and release you get after the pain can be as addictive as tea or smoking. But people give up before they break that pain threshold.

Yes. 70-75% People do giveup in first 3 days. I joined gym once, went there for a week, and then i thought why i need this ? Is there something that is not comming to me because of my shape ? Amd the amswer was NO. So i came back home, sit down and start watching movie... :partay: . Also, there is a proverb in Pashto for those who go to gym “Apny paiso se paraya loha utaana”. So you can see the mentality here :lol:

i thought why i need this ?
I think in my case there is element of vanity. A urge to fight or refuse the creeping years. To look as good as I can. Or I guess desire to retain as much of the youth that was once. As you know in western societies there is lot of emphasis on presentation. You must have a nice car. Nice clothes. But you need to nice body to wrap all that around.

There is also a competitive side to this. If your in gym and see other guys ~ the urge is to do better. So that can be a potent driver.

If you can do more than 20 strict push ups in a row, then you should move on to a higher progression like archer pushups, weighted pushups, pseudo planche push ups, one arm pushups, tuck planche push ups... and/or all of the above but on gymnastic rings (to improve stabilizers). You can change the leverage of your body to change the difficulty level on almost all of the above.

Generally we want:

1-4 reps for strength.
6-12 reps for hypertrophy.
30+ reps for endurance.

Also make sure your form is good, and try to use the full range of motion when you can (with many exceptions such as squat depth and dips, where you should only go down to parallel). Don't get injured.

Yes. The desire and urge to look good and young. But those who know me from PDF also know that i am a very calm and chill person. I started loosing hairs (i spend 6 years in Abbotabad and hard water, which sucks and weaken you hairs along causing many more issues) some 2-3 years ago. Though the rate is slow but visible, and i couldn’t care much. Similarly, Unless i have a belly same as Nasir chinyoti (no special connection i just thought he is a good example), i won’t feel the need to melt the extra fat.

I have been most impressed by Poles, Latvians, Estonians. I think they have a culture of fitness. The most strongest and fittest in my gym [male/female] are Poles, Estonian, Lats. Very impressive. although a bit cold at start but once you get to know them they are nice people.

Well, we are all differant. Differant courses for dfferant horses. We should do what we feel happy with. I think I certainly thing I am rare for my age group but that is me. And I will keep pushing it until I run out of steam.

I've been training for a few years, mostly with a focus on strength and technique. I haven't achieved anything super impressive, but I'm happy with it and that's what matters.

I think that any exercise is good, as long as you are consistent and you stick with it.

The only real principle that counts is "progressive overload", you want to gradually increase the amount of strength you are able to generate over time. In the first few years I was too impatient and kept trying to increase the difficulty too fast, I was injured a lot and my immune system wasn't doing well. Patience is needed, the body and mind work best when they are adapting to new stress slowly and bit by bit.

It's like exposure therapy when they are trying to cure someone of a fear of spiders, they sit them in a room and expose them to the stress-causing stimuli bit by bit, and over time their mind adapts better and better to the fear and overcomes it. Going too fast is a recipe for disaster though. Consistency and progression is key.
