How important are fighter-jet specifications, in a war-time situation?

see in case of war the close to the border airfields will be rendered useless by cruise missiles.... this would mean india having a greater width then pakistan will place its fighter somewhere in cochin or agra areas.....air to air refueling as well as awacs will make all fighters feel like a guy on steroids!!!

now a good avionics package in terms of radar with multiple tracking targets as well as a radar that is able to burn through jamming and a good range won't it make the JF at least middle weight boxer instead of the feather weight category that it comes in currently... that is my opinion....
