What's new

How good is a BLOCK70 F16 in comparison.

In reply to Blain.

F35 is the most wanted Fighter in the world. Around 15 countries are already scheduled to recieve this post 2015. Current orders will run thru too 2025..

As for PAF buying F35 2 things come to mind.

First the cost per unit is massive ie over $100 million each..and is rising annualy.

Second will the USA actually offer F35 now that india seems to be their NEW STRATEGIC ALLY in South ASIA.

No, India is a very lucrative market for the US. India buying stuff from Russia does'nt bother US at all. Besides, India is in extremely good terms with Israel (OK to sell Phalcon system to India but not to China is just one example) and shares the US/Isreali ideology. I guess only thing that is preventing India from buying US made warplanes is the lack of the support infrastructure. But this will not last long and soon we'll see US jets in the IAF marking.

sir that is not the only thing that is preventing india but its the TRUST. all the countries that believed the US has suffered later a good example is pakistan itself.is good for the UK or australia to trust the americans but not for the asians its not me who is saying this its the histroy that shows us this.

thanx

You are absolutely right. They know whom to trust and whom not to. Something simply not present on the other side. And this is because there is democracy in India. However, I am afraid India is coming closer to US day by day.

If the russians don,t get their act together soon. with issues on GORSKHOV and today AKULA class subs indefinte delay news this will only strenghten USA position vis a vis USA.

IAF has never operated USA equipment before. I think once the C130J And psoedioen maritime planes are delivered they will be very impressed..

I agree on future IF USA companies provide some good TOT for MMRCA i see F18 SH winning the contest.

that may open the floodgates and russia will lose $ billions....

Hi,

India is going to find out the truth in the statement, " ONCE YOU GO BLACK---YOU NEVER GOING BACK ".

It will be bye bye russia.

.
see USA is going to lure the Indians into the same trap that it with did with pakistan only this time the trap is bigger...but the iorny is that a declining super power is aligning itself with a country with a high disparity of income!!! let's see what happens...

You are gravely mistaken if you think the cost of the F-35 is $100 million. Its nowhere close to that. Expect to pay around $50-$55 million/aircraft. All depends on what you get with the aircraft. There will be a versions-galore with the F-35 as well.

Secondly, offering F-35 to Pakistan has nothing to do with the purported role of India. Its an aircraft. Just like the F-16. The balance of power does not shift just by selling an aircraft. As more and more 4.5 generation aircraft proliferate, the F-35 would become what the F-16 was in the 80s. Sell it to all as long as they are not diametrically opposed to the US.

Cost of the F-35 has been constantly increasing, and many new estimates put it well above its initially expected cost of $50-$55 million mark, and this is despite it being produced in massive numbers.

Cost of the F35 $135M AND STIL RISING

Some people on pdf thought $55m each in 2009

Kharian don,t be fooled by some of the NATIONILISTIC posting by both indians & pakistans on LCA project.

The LCA TEJAS is late by 10 YEARS i have already hinted at that.

As a result over half the IAF fleet is obselete ie too old.....

LCA stil does not have a indian engine THE KAVERI,,,,,, or a indian radar

AND THE indian BVR missle ASTRA is stil in testing phase........

but make no mistake india has learnt massively from this project...

FRM NIL/ZERO scientific base the LCA TEJAS has established a good base for 4 generation combat deveopment.

THE LCA has good FBW quaruplex system. glass cockpit,, compsite materials of body of over 50% so its light agile and strong.

IF IAF takes the American engine it will achieve the 95nt thrust that iaf is demanding.

And if the IAF accepts either the ELTA 2032 or even better the ELTA 2052 frm israel

THIS COULD YET BE A GOOD CAPABLE Light MRCA..

to replace those old MIGS and at a low cost of just $24m each....

In this world nothing has happened just as our wishes ....but one has to struggle for its milestone..and you guys are doing good..very good for your goal:yahoo:... Now for us the claiming enemy it also give's the motivation to be alert and active:bounce:...
