In case of a war between Pakistan and India, tank battles will play a major role in the outcome the result.Anti-tank missiles play a major part in the outcome. As baktar shikan is Pakistan army's main anti-tank missile, how affective is it going to be against India's tanks(like T-90,T-72,Arjun).To give the honorable members few pointers of the topic i will provide a bit information to you all

In case of Indian armour column advancement, we would just drop a tactical nuke.:)

. .
   hope that it was a joke

The uses on the battlefield for tactical nuke would include:

* Against a large ground force
* Against a fortified underground bunker
* Against remote and/or heavily-defended target locations difficult
or impossible to reach with conventional weapons
* Against a carrier battle group or any collection of surface vessels
* Against a large amphibious invasion force
* Against a 100+ vehicle supply convoy
* Against a squadron of strategic bombers

Sir you were talking about nuclear weapons like its some kind of softball or something..can you imagine the retaliation??..It will be bye bye for all of us

baktar shikan can penetrate 1400mm armour and can beat explosive reactive armoure as well and T-72 is just 500mm so it can be pentrated wid high accuracy but dont know about the armopur thickness of Arjunk and T-90s, so it might work on them as well 80-90% penetration

well there must be counter measurements against it.Baktar shikan isnt a fire-and-forget missile. Its is wire guided. So if the tank operators are clever they will have electronic counter measurements for it and fire at the place from fired to disrupt the laser.

Well the T-90M, which is going to be the backbone of the Indian Army, is equipped with the very latest Russian 'Kaktus' ERA, which replaces the 'Kontakt-5' on the T-90S. The M1A1 employed the M829A1 'Silver Bullet' DU round(of Gulf War 1 fame) which was soon replaced by the M829A2, when it failed to penetrate the Kontakt-5 in tests held by the German and US Armies.

The Indian Army has also issued RFPs for 1600 active counter-measure protection suites to 6 countries.

In future, the HVF is expected to retrofit all 987 T-90 MBTs with active protection systems (APS) for which Army HQ on April 24 last year issued requests for proposals to six companies (Israel Military Industries, RAFAEL, BAE Systems, Raytheon, Rosonoronexport, and Germany’s IBD Deisenroth Engineering) for procuring 1,657 active protection systems (APS) worth $270 million. The APS is a new-generation system developed to intercept, destroy, or confuse attacking enemy munitions. Typically, an APS comprises a sensor sub-system (threat warner and tracking sensor), countermeasures sub-system, and rapid data processing capability. The threat warner identifies a threat, then the tracking sensor determines the threat’s size, shape and direction. The software then decides an appropriate countermeasure and deploys the countermeasure, which physically intercepts it, all, obviously, in great hurry. The layered hit-avoidance suite thus enables full-spectrum survivability against rocket-propelled grenades, anti-armour guided missiles, high-explosive anti-tank rounds, top attack munitions and MBT-fired kinetic energy rounds. Expected to take part in the Indian bid are Russia’s Kolomna-based KBM Engineering Design Bureau with its Arena-E APS on offer, IMI of Israel with its Iron Fist suite on offer, RAFAEL’s Trophy APS, Raytheon’s Quick Kill APS, and Deisenroth Engineering’s AMAP-ADS. Interestingly, the hulls and welded steel turrets of the 330 T-90Ms, along with their Rapira gun barrels, will be fabricated by HVF with locally-sourced raw materials, while the indigenous ‘Kanchan’ modular ceramics-based composite laminate armour package will be used for substituting the Russian package, whose technology-transfer has been denied by Russia. The same also goes for the Kaktus ERA tiles and RPZ-86M anti-radar paint coating, which will be totally imported from Russia.

I believe that 1200mm is the official figure for the HJ-8. This would decrease with increase in target distance(leading to a lower impact velocity). Also, HEAT warheads are ineffective against modern composite armour.

It appears to be Laser guided, and such missiles are very difficult to stop with countermeasures, as the sensors are facing away from the target.

. . .
the wiki link which has been provided says its wire guided not laser guided.

the difficulty wont be as high then to confuse the missile,

difficult yes but not as much as a laser guided missile.

.
^ Oh yes, my bad.

I thought HJ-9 was Baktar Shikan...is this the mainstream Pak anti-tank missile??? what are others??

Actually wire-guided missiles(which is what the Baktar Shikan is) are the harder to jink. Its invulnerable to smoke screens that generally fool a heat seeking or laser guided missile.

Active protection systems like the Arena, Trophy and Quick Kill are a better defence against such systems(and others for that matter).
