Then there are people like me who have the power to give + or - ratings, but don't because I only give them to things I'm interested in. And since I'm the only person who contributes to the thread I'm interested in most, I don't hand out + or - ratings.

To me the - ratings are strange anyway. Why give a - rating when reporting the comment is equally effective or warranted? - Ratings are used to punishing garbage comments, or at least they are supposed to be. More often then not they are used to silence dissenting views. But what good is giving a - rating for a trollish or abusive comment with the forum's report feature was designed to deal with the same?

As for + ratings. If I don't care about it, I don't read it. If I don't read it, no matter its quality or depth, it's not getting a rating from me.

We could do this in the future. Right now we are not big enough.

May be if you think otherwise, qualitative reports (like sentiment analysis) generated from PDF can be very useful and eventually can be a cause for PDF to be bigger. May be just hiring a data scientist can make PDF very attractive and big.

Unlike what it says on my profile, I joined PDF well before 2009. I've not hidden anything. Besides, I frequently announce my country, so if you pay attention you would know anyway even without flags.

Like I said, I've not hidden anything. I never put up flags, which wasn't mandatory when I joined.

When PDF was founded, Flags were not manadatory so those who wished to hide their flags were allowed. But later things got complicated so we made it manadatory for those joining forum must choose a flag before the registration process is completed and we also enforced existing members to set their flags to correct location and nationality.

There were certain penalties if the rules were not followed so you will find very few members with fake identify on PDF. Those who still not have flag on their profile is because they joined before the rule of setting up flag was made manadatory.

I follow a few people, but as far as I can tell there isn't actually a benefit from being or having followers... anyone know the utility of following someone? You don't get updates on their activity, it just seems to be cosmetic.
