How could India / Pak / B'Desh manufacturing labour compete with China's?

yep, 60% of Foxconn employees quit every year. The children working as slaves on Delhi construction sites cannot quit. They will be whipped and dragged back if they quit.

Slave labour in progress

in these pictures, the Indian workers look no different from the Foxconn workers. Seems Foxconn's working conditions aren't extraordinary.

Not really. If we didn't have the 110% tax for CBUs, you wouldn't see these many car companies investing to set up plants here in India. India has the advantage of being a large market. That too, a growing market. I strongly believe that if the tax is increased, companies like Nokia, Motorola and Ericsson will invest large sums in India due to waning demand(high prices). The market is simply too big to give up. A chicken tax for Chinese imports to India doesn't mean those manufacturers cant export their goods to other countries.:D
Why after china join WTO, lower tax, china develop faster? And high tax must lead to more invest? And do you think the foreign companies invest in your country, you must be develop very, see china, too may alien brand. I don't think you know much about economy, you just 'think'. If you think can work. China had be sweep out of the earth by your 'think', and you had been the leader of the universe.
Byw, some people die in hospital because of accident, for this, you deny all hospital system, and you indian just like know chinese company? If you have money, come here to know it. Just see who will gain bigger achivement, don't talk too much.

see, slave labour like conditions do exist for the really poor in india. there are 12 million child laboureres in our country. I really feel for children working. they should enjoy and laugh in their childhood. we need to ge rid of these problems. yes in most cases people are fee and happy because of that, but we should not forget that there is this big group too.
next time you see children working please call the police, i intend doing it.

There's no doubt that China is going through ugly and paintful industrialization and these stories make everyone sad. On the other hand, every country has to go through this. There was a famous Japanese movie Sandakan_No._8 describing Japan's industrialization time (1920) and it is way more miserable. This was the exact reason that Mao and other CCP founders tried to avoid capitalism but end up with even worse. This is the only workable path for developing countries that don't have resource to sell. No country can become service based economy without going through manufacturing economy.

I recently watched an India movie Peepli live, (full 720p version available on youku: Peepli Live) by Amir Khan, it is a great movie and I am sure that Chinese can find a lot of familiar scenes that happened in rural China not a long time ago. (and maybe now in some places). Some people choose to go cities and live like dust (as the hero in the movie). It is a tough path but there's a hope that their next generation can live a more decently life.

India/Pakistan/BD of course should choose whatever path they see the best. But personally I don't see other alternatives. Shinning pictures of Infosys won't help most of the people. That's why I firmly believe Modi is the only solution to India, if it doesn't want to miss the sliding away opportunity.

after read the comments of indians, I am pretty sure india couldn't catch up China in a seenable future

We do not deny that Indian elites have a good working condition, but what you posted has nothing to do with what he said

Jaguar Land Rover inaugurates assembly plant in Pune

[/QUOTE]

These pictures are not very relavent since they cannot scale. My hometown is called China's detroit and those car assembly lines and working condition are comparable to developed countries, and I can post better pictures. That's not the point. As I mentioned in another thread, a developing country is called 3rd world not because it doesn't have shinning model factories, but because there are too many poor people that cannot work under these shinning conditions. The intention of this thread is to find the best way of making everyone rich, not only workers from Tata or Infosys. And with the currently situation, there's no way everyone can be like a Tata worker in either India, or China/Pakistand/BD.
