China is world factory for a reason. You are just making emotional post out of frustration. If China will probably make some money from raw material. I guess attaining world second largest economy must be a stage up?
No it is not emotional but practical.
China's critical ability to supply the world is fast eroding.
Plane after plane with PPE is now landing in UK from Turkey on an almost daily basis.
I fail to understand what exactly is wrong with China, or any country, seeing an opportunity to expand influence (without unnecessary wars and invasions and trillions wasted over decades).
China did not act to deliberately spread the virus - the Chinese downplayed the virus because they wanted to prevent a panic and minimize the impact to their economy. Lets not forget that the Trump Administration and various other world leaders also downplayed the infection even when it was clear that it was a serious issue. No one forced Trump to act like an arse, but he did, as he always does and much of this China bashing appears to be a means to redirect from domestic failures.
No-one is accusing the Chinese of spreading the virus deliberately.
If they downplayed the virus to prevent panic and minimise the impact to their economy that is where the problem is.
We need a full investigation with full transparency from the Chinese after all this is over, but if they withheld the fact that community transmission was happening and this virus has a really high R value/very dangerous, then they have a lot of blame for the disaster that has happened all over the world.
As to the lax attitude of most leaders in the West when it was clear this was a seriously dangerous pandemic, that still does not absolve the Chinese of blame if they hid the fact that the virus was very contagious and dangerous.
Lastly I do agree that Trump is blaming WHO and China to deflect attention from his incompetence in handling Covid-19.
