How China Beat India in Race for Success------A 1997 Article That Predicted Today

I said give it a year. I am sure you have a decent memory. So do I. We will compare notes then. For now, remember the following words: stock market decline, housing bubble, NPA mountain, GDP contraction.

+ Modi.

I know. If this was a new article, I wouldn't have posted here. It would be just another piece of "vs" flame-bait. A prediction from 18 years ago maybe just old enough to gauge today's reality. Many Chinese people take what we have today for granted, not knowing we were not much better than others 20 years ago. This article from the past may just get some of them to think and appreciate what we are enjoying today even more.

Yes, the article is a good reminder that there is still a lot to be done and India is worth to mention only in the context of two decades prior.

You might be slightly ill-informed to engage the Indians, by the way, although I see your rationale and, from historical-comparative perspective, it is meaningful.

No, I am not surprised that there are more nationalistic Indians than Chinese. China now is an open society where people can say anything they want on the social media, pro-China, anti-China, religious, non-religious, whatever.

Seems our ignorance about freedom in China is shared by almost all of world media. If you are on Baidu, I suggest you access these through a VPN. But then again, I don't want you to go to jail.

Thanks for your contribution. It was a nice discussion, and I learnt a lot. Hope I can see you here again. Best wishes for both countries!

And in the meantime, let us (China) go back to sponsoring proxies, following a policy of containment and repression. Look, having a calm discussion is fine, I appreciate it. Just that Chinese (unofficial) spokespersons seem to be adept at keeoing their cool when discussing the supposed economic failings of a neighbour. They seem to have an infinitely low threshold when the discussion is on why China is the last major country in this world which is a repressive totalitarian dictatorship. What are the social failings that have convinced the Chinese people that they are incapable of deciding their own political fate. And why are they not fit for democracy, which the entire civilized world has accepted.

About Modi in India:

***

A year after Indian Prime Minister Modi’s landslide election victory, financial markets have given him a positive report card though enthusiasm is cooling.

India manufacturing growth at 7-month low in September

Sluggish rise in new business inflows and a cautious approach to costs reportedly led Indian manufacturers to shed jobs in September.

Thanks though, and we can always talk about new weapons and space programs.

I have stopped taking interest in Chinese trolls for any kind of discussion, whether about the economy, new weapons or space programs.

Thank you.

Just curious how you define "troll"? Anyone disagree with you, or his post dose not fit your liking? I see you are pretty active in many threads, not really contribute to the discussion itself but take some side shots. Dose this make you an "Indian troll" too?

Anyway, nice talking to you. Don't have to answer.

Some examples of trolls in this thread, but there are plenty of worst examples in other threads.

And yes, no need to reply.

Bro you made some good points there, thanks!

Here is a case, Korea vs Ghana:

"...The Economist pointed out that, in 1957, Ghana, then the wealthiest nation in Sub-Saharan Africa, had a per capita income almost equal to that of South Korea (US $490 against US $491 in 1980 dollars).."

" ...Most who studied under Carl Rosberg in the early 1960s at the University of California/Berkeley shared his optimism about the future of Africa...."

Not directing at anyone, just emotionally I just find it distasteful by hyphenating China with another completely different country. Try show Korea-Ghana comparison to a Korean, and see his response. Well western journalism or "academics" might find it amusing and feel-good, bashing China, bracketing China with India, anyway it's their article, their readership, but not a thing will change about China.

China does not consider India a peer rival. A nuisance needing a spanking perhaps. There is no comparison. China is a temporate zone country. It's like comparing United States and Mexico.

Abotani lives in occupied South Tibet.

India desire to be a superpower above all. It's about the status and you are not afraid to admit it. Does most Indians want India to become a superpower? Sine you are banned, I would like to hear from other Indians.

Yeah right, coming from an indian living in a country that is only known for poverty and hunger.

In fact, many take it as an insult, no matter how such a comparison might provide some interesting historical postulations.

That member is not an Indian, this forum is full of false-flaggers...

He claims so, all false-flaggers claim that they are real. There are genuine Indian members here from that area.

It's pointless here...just know this that we are not interested in Chinese political system even if there is a guarantee of growing our economy by 10 times in next 10 years.

How about these ones?

Self-righteous at full display. Maybe it is one of the reasons you are where you are today. Carry on!

Where do you think I am today? What do you know about me?

Anyways, no need to answer a question for which you don't know the answer.

yeah, I am in a fine place, not in a virtual jail. Thank you.

The original article is not about your lot, and it is about hundred of millions less fortunate and under privileged people. Your "I am in a fine place" showing off was misplaced. Obviously, you did not bother to read the original article or did not understand, let alone your concerns for those poor people. Hence, posting a 18 year old article may just be justified.

Ok.

To my Indian friends here, the view points of some Indian Scholars in this article are thought provoking. They may help you to view your great country from different prospective.
Tell these scholars, the wars india have fought and is placed in one of the most hostile neighbourhood.
