Housing segregation in India is normal.

India is a land of "Parsi colony", "Brahmin colony", "Jain colony", "muslim colony", "christian colony", Jewish colony etc. Community living in India is as old as history.

Nobody in India is either surprised by it or even averse to it. Its just a natural extension of lifestyle choices.

Sadly this is true.

Most Hindus do not wish to live next to muslims even if there is no communal tension.

Having a muslim in the neighborhood will drop property prices by at least 20-30%. The only people who will readily buy the next property is other muslims, as it will be near impossible to sell any of the house in the neighborhood to other Hindus.
