How Can Myanmar ethnic cleansing be stopped?

1997 is almost 15 years back. Its heck of a hangover.
Sure beaches of Thais are far better than Bangladesh and girls are more attractive. You sure you want to say that? Thai girls look like Burmese girls and we're supposed to be 'jungle monkeys'
Bangladesh is a completely different type of economy. Not much space for small foreign player like you. Even if you want to invest in stock market, your stock will be locked for a year before you can sell it. We dont invite hedge funds. ;-)

Is the reason for your reluctance in allowing the same levels of hot capital flows a part of strategic policy or is it an 'islamic' thing? (genuine question)

If you want to talk about economic hangovers, have a word with the Japanese. They've been in one for 20 years and still going strong.

Basically we don't want touts in our country. Our people are naive and need protection. But we do make favorable condition for real investors in real sectors like industries, telecom, IT, power etc. We are the only country in the region other than Singapore which allows 100% foreign ownership as well as 100% repatriation of profit and capital. We don't want vultures who will come to exploit our resources whatever little we have. People are against it. ;-)

Not much left for exploitation anymore. Gas are all consumed by now. There is a tug of war going on for coal. But no export. Any new gas discovery in BoB will not subject to export.

Besides we dont even allow export of timber. We dont have any minerals though.

You are not girl.... are you.

No i am not.. YOu can remove those love face now... ;-)

1. By and large the Muslims of SA have failed to understand the process of ethnic cleansing that begun during Emperor Akbar's reign. Taking advantage of the laxity he adopted for political purpose, the slow process of a regeneration of Hindu supremacy began. Din e Ilahi was another aberration that aided this slow rebirth. Aurangjeb Alamgir rightly identified the issue but it was too late. His open challenge by declaring Hindustan a Dar ul Islam did not help. Instead it drove the Hindu revivalists to rally behind the brigand whom they crowned as a Maratha King - Shivaji.

2. Aurangjeb was well aware of the importance of Arakan in the survival of Islam in SA. The very name is derived from the word Rokon - the beginning. The capital of the Muslim Sultans of Arakan was Mra-Ku, a name derived from Morocco. We are yet to find out the association with Morocco but the Burmese and Buddhists used to call the Muslims Moors. Arakanese Muslim's traditional headgear is another indicator. Even Sher e Bangla Fazlul Huq, belonging to Barisal, and the people of present day S and SE BD used to wear the Fez.

3. Aurangjeb had been pained by the reports of atrocities committed by Burmese invaders of Arakan and the Portugues who had been ceded the Northern Arakan ( now BD divs of Chittagong, Barisal and Khulna). One of his fist acts on ascending the throne was to order Gov Shaista Khan to capture Arakan.Another compelling reason was the cold blooded killing of Shah Shuja and his family by the Burmese Thanda Thudamma. In the second year of his reign, 1665, Shaista Khan's son Gen Buzurg Umed khan aided by naval contingents captured N Arakan (presently S and SE BD) from the Burmese-Portuguese hold.

4. On hearing the news of victory Auraangjeb is said to have offered two raqats of prayer, and then named the are Islamabad.

5. While a rising Hindu fundamentalism is slowly and covertly pursuing their centuries old project of enacting another al Andalusia in SA, in Burma the Buddhists are open in their objective of establishing a "kala" - free Burma. Budhism is the state religion and nothing happens without the consent/involvement of the monks.

During last Bangladesh-Burma standoff in 2008,BD was short on spare parts of F-7 fighters so they asked China for spare parts on an emergency basis but China refused to give. Then BD turned to Pakistan and got those spare parts within one day which were transported by a C-130.Don't know if this is a true incident or not !! Anyone knows about it ??

1.Cocky Dick Cheney was the US Def Secy. Obviously he was showing a green flag. Pakistan and S Arabia came out in total support. Saudi top soldier Gen Khalid had rushed to BD. So did ACM Faruq Firoz. Pakistan is reported have provided some aircraft in crates.

2. We are not sure if BD had approached Chin at all because Burma and China were having a honeymoon relation. However, any action by BD was sabotaged by India's insistence to involve her under the 25 Yrs un-Friendship Treaty. That would be inviting the crocodile into your courtyard.
