There was a famine there. Blame the famine instead of your leader at the time of the famine. If India is a land of surplus food, than there should be no famine. As for the question of "should Indians die for Britain's imperial ambitions" back in 1943 is the same as asking the question today "should Tamils die for India's imperial ambitions. India was part of British empire back then.

We got a floater here. Flush again guys.

India would be much better going under British rule again. Some countries perform much better under foreign rule and India is one of those countries. One of the worst things that happened to Indians is that they got the right to self-rule. They should never have been allowed self-rule.

Remember it was Winston Churchill that said 'Indians are beastly people that follow a beastly religion'. Religion and caste system are two of the worst problems in India along with corruption.

So you admit British rule of Hong Kong was good thing and should continue

By your logic, Japan and the 7 nation alliance should continue to rule China, as all these nations are better of than China from quality of life

This was a man made famine. There was no shortage of food. Food supply was on purpose cut in a methodical fashion.

India was only a country because Britain united it. If France beat the Brits in 7 year war, France would be in control of southern India and British the East India. The Mysore would still be independent and Maratha would still be independent. As a result, Indian sub continent would be divided into various countries.

I disagree that India is best under British rule. India should consist of kingdoms before British domination over India. There should be a Sihk kingdom, Mysore, Maratha, Hyderabad kingdoms.

Was the food forcefully taken from the local population? Or was there a drought or flood in the area that destroyed the crops?

do u have comprehension problems??india was a land of surplus food but destroyed by the revenue policies of british.farmer became indebted more and more and sunk to a position that he could nomore afford to cultivate.what do u mean by blame the famine??its not a cyclone or earthquake to blame it its caused by diverting the food grain to weapons and unaffordable millitary expenditure.no tamil is asking to make their state a separate country.but there were many revolutions to kick the asses of the british a "foreign"entity which is looting india and destroying our country.u might feel blessed to be ruled by china.but not everybody is like u.its better if u learn some history before u comment.

if british would have not united the country then somebody would because there were enough powerful kingdoms in india.not every empire stays powerful for eternity.india though was a land of many kingdoms there were many efforts to unite it and many have done it successfully.there was a time when even indonesia was under the rule of indian kings.so who knows if british wouldnt have come then ur tiwan must have been ruled by india.u must be thankful to them.if u have so much love towards british then u must invite them to occupy and rule ur "island"or if u love imperialists somuch beg japanese to reoccupy taiwan..they might even reconsider.

Rice was purchased by the government often forcibly and hoarded. There was mini crop failure due to fungal infection as well storms/tidal waves etc. but these were minor in nature and should not have lead to any crisis. The hoarded stockpile of rice was purposefully prevented from reaching market and natural flow of food from other state into Bengal was stopped. Rich people panic bought and hoarded food as they could see the supply was drying out.

The famine was entirely man made to create a buffer between the Japs and the British forces. The famine occurred in midst of food actually being available that was by policy prevented from reaching the people.

And this rascal / rakshat was given 2 Noble prizes!!!
