Even a day ago the same gallup poll showed that 7 in 10 americans think china is important....
Wat happened in this poll...?????
India 72%
china 47%
Logically, these two, favorable vs important, have no 1-to-1 mapping. One does not automatically translate into the other one.
US people probably has more uneasiness towards China while very less so for India.
The reason can be due to the fact taht China fast approaches US in every direction and US is stagnantly standing there ...
India is no threat to US from any direction though I am not sure Indian people should be happy for this or not.
If one day India can grow to the point to Challenge US like What China is today, I bet that percentage definitely will drop a lot.
Democracy may obstruct Indias development, but it also makes the world look at this billion-strong nation differently, with no fear of aggression vis-à-vis China, says Singapores Minister-Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.
Lee also calls the efforts by India to forge a civilian nuclear deal with the US in the nations interest, but adds that political opposition to it reflects the internal checks and balances in place because of the democratic set up.
There is no fear that India has aggressive intentions, Lee writes in a column for Forbes, soon after his recent return from New Delhi, which he visited twice over the past month to address top executives of J P Morgan and Citigroup.
Two of the largest US banks consider India to be a growth story and are eager to service American and Indian companies. I did not detect any anxiety over India becoming a problem to the present world order, says Lee.
Why has Chinas peaceful rise, however, raised apprehensions? Is it because India is a democracy in which numerous political forces are constantly at work, making for an internal system of checks and balances?

Oh My God! Indians still care what the white man thinks about them to this day in the year 2011. Indians will never get rid of their inferiority complex to their white masters.
I'm so glad that most Pakistanis today dont care what Americans/British (white people) think anymore.
