Pakistan Post to Open Its Rest houses for Public
Pakistan Post has announced that it will open 41 of its rest houses across Pakistan to facilitate domestic and foreign tourists.
A senior official of the Post said: The move is in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been a strong proponent of promoting tourism in the country by offering cost-effective accommodations to travelers at scenic locations.
This will bring in revenue for the department as well as boost the tourism industry in the country, said the official.
Murad Saeed, the Minister for Communications and Postal Services, has ordered that these rest houses should be upgraded from
Karachi to
Murree.
Initially, only officials of Pakistan Post could use these rest houses but now they are accessible to the general public. An official notification has been issued, according to which tourists can avail inexpensive rates at these rest houses.
Rates and Categories
These rest houses will be divided into three categories, the highest being the A category. Per day cost for these is PKR 3,000 and these are located in Faisalabad, Jhelum, Karachi, Lahore (Shadman and Cantt), Mianwali, Multan, Nathia Gali, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Sialkot General Post Office (GPO), and Sialkot Cantt.
Next is the B category with a per day cost of PKR 2,000. They are located in Attock, Murree GPO, Gujrat, Sargodha, Layyah, Chitral, Abbottabad, Ayubia, Kohat, DI Khan, Mirpurkhas, Sorab, Amri, Taftan, Qallat, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Gilgit, Sust, and Skardu.
Lastly, for the final C category, the rent is PKR 1,200 per day and these are located at Pindi Point Murree, Saidu Sharif, Bannu, Ziarat and Sialkot Cantt
