Through its entire history, China has always been a secular nation, maybe the only country in the world. We have never been indoctrinated by religion and fought or invaded in the name of religion. I am always sad to see little kids being taught about religion and brought to church or mosque before they even have cognitive ability.

Buddhism is a way of life, and is how individuals should behave, not how we should spread the words of some gods. I am a Buddhist believer myself. At the same time, I don't take offense if someone denounces Buddhism. Religion is personal choice. I have the choice to believe and others have the choice not to believe. If they don't believe, their behaviors that you find offensive might seem harmless to them.

Believers should have much higher tolerance of the non-believers if believers have true faith in their gods or religion. However, what we have been seeing here is religious believers demanding tolerance from non believers in an ever secular world.
