Hollywood Wants You To Be Afraid Of The Yellow Horde (Update)

Well actually no one cared about it in China to protest at all.

MGM did it all on its own.
Why would anybody even expect protests from the Chinese population to begin with? The movie plot is so ridiculous that it's actually funny. That's why it has the potential to become a cult classic within China and would serve as counter propaganda against anti-China demonization. The problem is not the movie, the problem is the incompetent foreign image handlers China employs to manage China's image. Their knee jerk reaction has yet again wasted another opportunity to use a comical attempt at anti-China demonization to their favor. These are the same fools who write press releases with the moronic and often repeated statement....

"...actions have hurt the feelings of the Chinese people"

It's these sorts of impotent and childish statements that heap scorn on China because nobody but the Chinese government give a rats about somebody's "feelings" when they are dealing with strategic machinations. The problem is the naive mindset of those in charge of China's image who do not learn from their media experiences with the outside world.

A group of militia winning against the Chinese military when they are outnumbered. Is this supposed to make the Chinese military look bad or the American Military?

There should be a new Command and Conquer game with China as the main player.

Highly doubt any Asian especially from a Socialist named country would become the protagonist in the Western World.

The sad thing is that a lot of Fengqings in China are disappointed since they really wanted to see a movie where the Chinese military could launch attacks on the U.S. soil.

Japan in CC3 was a main faction.

Also homefront single player was way too short. Pretty good gameplay that's been done before. I enjoyed looking for the little newspapers and the background of the conflict they portrayed.

Come on guys China has already been in a video game, Command and Conquer Generals ring a bell? You then had the follow up Zero Hour.

China was the best and most fun faction to play with.

Here is a dedication to the Chinese faction!

Compared to USSR, China is having it easy. The Karate Kid remake was a major attempt to brown nose China.

:pop: Why do Chinese people in the movie to be bad boy? We want to do be Batman.

I totally agree with you. It is really amazing reading the English title of article on xinhua . Those people are really that incompetent. All they need is a Chinese American guy who grew up in America as consultant to show them how it is done. There are tons of Chinese American/Asian American guy who have an axe to grind with American media portray of Chinese/Asian. Frustrate Asian American guy are very in tune with how the Western media works.

Hell they need to hire me as a consultant.

Chinese media is always on the defense, never offensive. While Western medias are always on the offensive. I mean there are tons of negative news about America they can highlight to make Chinese feel better about China. Western media are very good at highlight negatives from other country, it is standard operating procedure for Wester news media. Murder suicide by white men on Asian ( http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2010/11/murder-suicide.html), racism against Asian students (South Philly), send a couple Chinese news to Detroit to high the decline of America, send them to West Virginia to do a story about poverty in America, story on obsesity. These stories might offset the Hollywood effect and make Chinese more realistic.

The Western media are perfect at techniques of making a small incident into a big news story. China should follow Western media leads in this regard.

This is a typical repetition-scare tactic. Even though viewers know that it's biased, it will stick in their minds and eventually their own perspective will be affected.

It's the same thing Germany did to its people prior to the Second World War.
