Hockey war:-furious-indian-players-attack-pakistan-team

it is a regrettable incident...i hope it is not repeated. The players should go on TV and apologize to the Pakistani team. Then the issue would be resolved in satisfactory fashion.

why should they attack an opposing team just because a goal is scored against them? it is indians who should be angry and outraged
we yet are not aware of what caused the incident, we the citizens do not need a appology, the Pakistani team will receive a appology from the Indian Team in what ever manner that is acceptable to both sides. Its not necessary to go public on this issue, as Citizens of India some of us had empathised with the citizens of Pakistan and that is enough to maintian the status quo. Lets not play the victim game where ever we find and oppertunity.

attacked them with hockey sticks?

why not just raise their dukes like what proper men do?

indian cowards
as far as the bold faced stance is concerned this is not a incident to prove our boldness, this is some thing that we fell as a shameful incident not a act of cowardliness, you need to the difference of the two words "coward" and "shame"

chalo, that's fair.

i still would be mildly interested to see footages of the scuffle; surely there must be something out there

Well said. However exercising impartiality (and considering what Sir Mastan has told us) id second Sir.MK on the stand that the penalties handed out are in no way proportionate to the offenses committed. A 5 match ban is nothing. Then exercising my Pakistani-hood id say let them play the next fixture and watch us beat them on the field instead of drawing. Like my Portuguese rugby coach used to say: "Ladies! He fouled you? The ref didnt see it? Suck it up! Beat the crap out of him on the field, in the game. Make them pay in the game!".

I didn't know the brawl was outside the field...my mistake, that is unbelievable!

The guy who hit one of the Pakistanis (who was on field) with his hockey, smashing his teeth out, wasnt part of the eleven on the field. Had he been a part of the playing eleven even then it would have been unacceptable. One cant compare ice hockey with field hockey. The rules of engagement are different. Firstly its acceptable in ice hockey for two players to start throwing punches around but in field hockey it is not. The brawls are a part of the former. Secondly even in ice hockey you cant take your hockey stick and smack the, other person square in the face. Thirdly have you seen the kind of protection gear the ice hockey guys wear? Nothing of the sort in field hockey. For example in rugby no one will call it a foul if you broke someone's rib or jaw provided your tackle was legal. The given set of rules must be followed. What I meant by 'making them pay in the game' was 'making them pay as much as you can while adhering to the given set of rules'. Thats what a true sportsman would do, at least in my eyes. Of course its easier to avenge one's self in rugby and in ice hockey than in field hockey but thats how the game is and thats how it should be played. So for the Pakistani hockey team it would be best to channel their anger into more effort at beating the Indian side in the next match. Any kid can swing a hockey stick lets see if they can score any goals too. Every sport is a war to be fought with the given set of rules. Knock the other guy out in a ring shake hands on the golf course.
