Featured HizbulAhrar & JamatulAhrar merged into TTP

@Foxtrot Alpha @Ghost 125

Do you have any update regarding "Hizb ut-Tahrir" They claimed to be non-violent jihadis only spreading the word of jihad rather than doing killings. They allegedly had some links with brigadier Ali Khan as well.

Worst Thing about Hizb ut-Tahrir was that it made inroads withing intelligentsia and educated class of Pakistani youth especially universities. I hope their chapter is closed now permanently.

Both are on the run. The leadership and mid command has all been eliminated. If the remaining are to survive they need to merge.

In any case soon the rest will be eliminated, US has given free hand to Pakistan in Afghanistan. So many TTP and BLA commanders and militants have been eliminated over last 2 years, never has US reacted to it. They were gunned down by "unknown people".

true, but HuA was created after ideological differences and internal rifts b/w JuA and TTP...Simply put, JuA was a splinter faction of TTP and then HuA was created out of JuA and TTP central group...

I think our agencies took a break... or became complacent. we successfully broke these two...

Its easy to break them up again. Lets kill each of their semi-leaders and blame it on the other.. It is better when the rats fight amongst themselves.

If they unite, they'll create problems for us, like they did in 2007-8 after lal masjid

Is the Pakistani understanding that the TTP is controlled by India? If not, what do they want from Pakistan? I don't understand the motivation of the TTP, or the HuA, for that matter. Are they rational?
No, it is not. Look up the National Action Plan. The government and the establishment admit and realise that TTP is a child of the clerics whom the politicians and the establishment have bedded for decades. The TTP relies on seminaries and the people who run them for popular support. The idea behind the National Action Plan was to "regulate" the religious narrative, and the seminaries which propagate it, which is used by the militants to garner popular support. The plan was never implemented, of course, because the politicians need the votes that the clerics bring with them. The most powerful politician in Punjab recently had a very controversial religious bill passed by the the Punjab parliament to appease his clerical allies. The whole thing is a complete mess. Half the country is radicalised as a result.

you are confusing Violent Extremism with Terrorism. NAP / NACTA has clearly defined Extremism separately from terrorism.
TTP 'used' to rely on support from seminaries and fed on radicalized youth but things have changed now. Recruitment drive is targeting the vulnerable group in the community.
If you like i can share some of the material published by TTP & HuA these days to back up my claim..

No, you are correct. We have seen Al-Qaeda and ISIS recruiting already radicalised individuals through social media. TTP too is most likely headed in that direction. But let us not forget that radicalistion of individuals happens as a result of being inspired by persons affiliated with the aforementioned fraternity regardless of the medium through which radical ideas are communicated. If by "vulnerable group" you were referring to people who have personal grievances against the state, the motivating ideas fed to them are still part of the narrative generated by the people and institutions I mentioned.

As for the differentiation between violent extremism and terrorism, the distinction, if it exists, has no bearing on my argument.

i beg to disagree with this part too, the ideas are fed to them by the likes of progressive & articulate individuals professing Marxs at our educational institutions. The groups these 'vulnerable' later on join operate in the name of religion but the motivating factor to join the groups has less to do with religion then the hate against state.
Let me just share the titles with you of recent publications of TTP:

  • Azadi Pakistan ki haqiqi tareekh ba'anvan azadi ka faraib ( by Commandar Adnan Rasheed)
  • Hind ki sazish taqseem aur secularism communism socialism aur nationalism (by Khalid Haqqani)
  • Jashnay Azadi ya Jashnay Fahashi

that adnan rasheed guy used to be a poster boy of ttp after bannu jail break..then he vanished after 2015 when north waziristan was cleared. thought he died but he isnt ..khalid haqqani is dead tho, killed in Afg this Jan

I can't believe you said that, lol.
That is why i had said, it is important to understand Terrorism vs Extremism. What we are seeing in Balochistan & Sindh is terrorism, what you see in the name of TTP is a mix of Terrorism that initiated as extremism...

Comes as no surprise as its the merger season.

First, it was BRAS. Then BRAS developed bonhomie with SRA. The fact these mergers are coming together in 2020 points to the fact that the sponsor of these elements is in a financial crunch hence the streamlining of organisations, and their supposed funding.
