The Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday said they have arrested the chief operational commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen, dealing a severe blow to the Pakistan-based terrorist outfit.

Muzaffar Ahmed Dar alias Ghaznavi alias Ali was arrested from his hideout in Hazratbal, close to the University of Kashmir, on the outskirts of Srinagar,
B. Srinivas, inspector general of police (IGP) Kashmir, told reporters in Srinagar.

Dar, a local militant but trained in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, has been an active terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir since 1990, Srinivas said.

A close associate of Hizbul Mujahideen supreme commander Syed Salahuddin, Dar had masterminded a landmine blast on the Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway last year that killed around a dozen Indian Army soldiers, the police officer said.

Good thing he was caught alive

too much of a wuss to do a fidayeen stunt i guess

surely he'd be "debriefed" in a manner, where he'd regret not doing the fidayeen stunt

weather they share it or not is not important, but the dossier that his debreifing will generate is sure to give his handlers in....ahem!! ahem!!.....many sleepless nights

Very good keep catching them but please don't take so much time i mean the man has given almost nineteen years his retirement must have been close, in the future and please don't quote 2007 copyrights.

Muzaffar Ahmed Dar alias Ghaznavi alias Ali was arrested in the vicinity of 7-8 February 2009

The news appeared in the media on the 9th of February 2009

in the future and please don't quote 2007 copyrights.

you certainly exhibit an unusually high level of ignorance worthy of being displyed in the Ripley's Believe it our Not Museum

What difference does it make to the news if Hindustan Times had to renew its copyright previlages in 2007....duhhhh!!!!!!

No worries. Hizb is already a dead horse and most of its local leaders have been taking part in state staged elections in Indian Occupied Kashmir after having deals with India.

The chief of Hizbul Mujahideen Salahuddin have close relations of former IoK chief minister Mufti Saeed.
It was due to his close relations that Advani approached Mufti Saeed for making a deal with Salahuddin for not sabotaging installation of Mufti Saeed's as Chief minister of IOK during BJP government.

I simply meant if it is copyright 2007 you can copy it without needing to mention the copyright
