If Pakistan is to apply the same standards that India adopted to sever East Pakistan from the West then the resolution of Indian Occupied Kashmir issue becomes just an internal matter of Pakistan to militarily intervene and solve for the betterment of the region at large, exactly as India claimed it was doing in 1971.

Please keep in mind one huge change: the introduction of nuclear weapons by both sides and M.A.D. in case of open hostilities. The previous example is simply not applicable anymore.
