18th April was the historic Boraibari Victory Day. On that day, in 2001, Indian troops tried to attack and capture the disputed Boraibari village located on the Bangladesh-India border, leading to a conflict between Bangladesh and India where about 400 Indian soldiers were killed and the village was retained by Bangladesh.

In the same conflict, 3 Bangladeshi troops got martyred, including Sipahi Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman of Bangladesh Border Guards who's valiant struggles ensured Bangladesh's decisive victory.

. . . . . .
From where do you get this figure? 300 Indian attacked 30 died for 3 bengalis. People inflating and deflating figures lead to uncreditibility.

.
Its true that officially, the figure was 16. However, I was told quite a lot of times that the number was far bigger than what was disclosed.. being around 96. Regardless, I presume 400 is a bit OTT.

According to former BDR DG Fazlur Rahman, the number is 400. Refer to "A country should have strength to implement its political plans" in New Age.

I still wouldn't account one persons report to be the universal truth.

. .
Are you sure it was 400?

Depends on who you want to believe.

An officer who was in charge of the incident claims the Indian casualty ranged from 100-400. This is only possible if an Ambush attack took place in the dark of night on an unsuspecting ill prepared raiding party.

The official claim is 3 Bangladeshi and 16 Indian soldiers. Those who believe in 100-400 number think that India let it slide and covered up the number as Sheikh Hasina was the prime minister of Bangladesh and the incident took place by Army without her consent.

Well its definitely not a one person report. Anyway fair enough, 400 was the Bangladeshi claim so I put it up here. India claimed it to be 16.

Like the 3 million figure as well. A common thing in BD it seems....numbers inflating the reality.

I'll advise you to not quote me out of context.

As far as your comment is concerned, ~96 is an extremely reliable figure. I have sources which many chaps in the forum dont have access to. That's why I have said 400 is an OTT figure.

lmao... whatever india might claim... we all know whose tanks got stopped by whom in lahore.... whose planes fell from the sky like squatted flies and whose forces had an asswiping in 2000s be it 400 or 16....
