Was talking about Modi. Not the BJP. RSS & VHP aren't thrilled to have a guy like Modi in the saddle. Didn't take orders in Gujarat and he hammered the VHP there. Their support for him during the elections was because of the pressure coming in from the ranks below, not because there was support from the top.

Modi won't stay forever,a time will come when a person like mohan bhagwat can become PM.Then what will we do??
This country is 80% hindu therefore will we ban everything not related to hinduism??

Or insist that everyone convert just like pakistan did with hindus??

Modi is in a bind, if he takes action against RSS/VHP, he will surely lose 2019, and if he does not, there is a high probability that he will lose all respect even among his fans (and election)..

BJP's massive mandate this year was on back of clean sweep that it did in UP. Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chattisgarh were always its bastions and it was also a strong player in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Uttaranchal and Himanchal. Only new state that gravitated to BJP's kitty this election were Uttar Pradesh,Haryana, and J&K. Out of these J&K is clear cut case of Hindus mobilizing behind a Hindu party in a jihadi muslim state (The did that for congress until before last elections ,but congress earned label of anti-Hindu party in last election thus costing them support), UPwallahs and Haryanvis do not give a rat *** to what English speaking deracinated class of Delhi thinks.

BJP , as long as it does not fcuk up on economic front would win ,irrespective of what VHP says or does not say.

People who do not belong to Adarsh liberal fraternity could look through this smear campaign where Adarsh liberal media and Christians are blaming Modi for everything from vandalism and rape to constipation.

dont be so sure of converting economic achievements into votes.. shining India did not work for vajpayee..
this time expectation is high among modi supporters, and lots of people wanted to simply punish congress(bjp got benefitted).. and then there were religious polarization in UP and kashmir...
Basically this number came because everything worked in favour of BJP, not that easy next time.

He is in no 'Bind'. RSS/ VHP are his core, his 'mother organizations' as he described them during his swearing in. He belongs to them and will always belong to them. He has more than 50 year association with RSS. You think he cares a fig about his middle class 'fans'? He would rather resign than dilute one bit of their ideology. He is there to play a smart game where through political power he can forward his lifelong RSS aims. Everything else is a charade.

I don't think apart from defence where nda's performance has been good to excellent we have implemented anything substantial.

Due to loud mouth vhp/rss we are having parliament disruptions almost everyday and with a meagre strength in rajya sabha,nda will not be able to push 1 reform without opposition help.Any responsible party should understand this and try to break the jam instead of worrying about an anti conversion law.

Contrary to the belief of many hindutvadis here,bjp was not elected to get an anti conversion bill passed.

Last year there were 200+ temples vandalized in Delhi compared to 1 Church.

It seem that Churches have a tendency of getting vandalized when political capital could be reaped by secular parties from those attacks.

VHP is not too happy with Modi even before general election, all is not well in the family.
Modi on other hand will try to create a legacy, that will require him to play at much larger scale than a provincial leader. Modi's aspiration is to be at same level as Nehru/Tito and I dont think he will like his dream to be smashed over stupid things. He already managed to create personality cult(so he can bypass constraint of organization.. like Indira did).

No doubt, the greatest virtue of Hinduism was/is tolerance.
I see it getting eroded of late.

The beauty of Hinduism is its tolerance and its capability of accommodating diversity of thoughts. An idol worshiper, anti idol worshiper, monotheist, polytheist, atheist everybody can call them a follower of Hinduism as Hinduism has philosophical backbone to accommodate all such apparently contradictory concepts. No body can tell that "this" is the last word of Hinduism.

Now the "fatwa" given by these self proclaimed masihah of Hinduism and trying to streamline the belief is what I think "Ïslamisation process" of Hinduism (where Koran & Hadith are the last words). The core concept of plurality, diversity , adaptability for change which actually enabled this religion to survive for 5000 years are being overlooked by these self proclaimed leaders of Hinduism

I can assure you differences are not as pronounced as you think. Sangh parivar knows that Modi is in power because of cult and is ok with him havig it till he promotes the right wing agenda in power. It is a temporary sacrifice to make use of political power to achieve their ideological ends. The day he stops seriously pushing that, they will drop him. You have any doubts? Eighty years they've stayed out of power without making a single compromise on their ideology, they never struck a compromise with congress for power. They can drop modi and wait another 30 years without power- no issues. Ideology is uncompromisable. And that ideology is hindu rashtra.

I have pointed it out to people before- development is our expectation. And who cares a flying f**k about our expectations anyway? The RSS don't. If a 20 year civil war is needed that destroys all of development but will get a Hindu Rashtra at the other end, do they care? They won't hesitate a moment and will unleash that civil war. Modi is their man and he is there because of them. Whether Modi delivers development/ economic growth or not, he had better deliver that hindu rashtra to them. That's why Modi will never curb them. They come first, India's people come second. That's how this works.
