I really doubt the guy is a religious Hindu or extremist, he probably just got ticked off at the passive aggressive street preaching. Educated guess and its pretty much standard for the Hindutva crowd. They've been getting very brave in the US. There is nothing to suggest he was anything else.

Last overseas Hindu - Muslim fight was that post cricket match (was it?) hooliganism and street/gang war like situation over in the UK where there's a lot of trashy people from both mulks. The US, at least I've always heard, has a better type of desi, generally hard working and there on merit... model citizens for the most part, mostly working high paying jobs or running their own businesses etc

I'll take your word for it but I swear I've heard stuff to the contrary by desis settled in the US, but then desis make only a miniscule % of the population there, so that, and the US being so huge a place, they're spread out even thinner throughout.. makes for lesser chances of rioting.

As Pakistani-American, we get along, but there is underlining tension between the two groups, and you will have bursts of fighting breaking out. Still, it doesn't make it to the media, unlike someplace in the UK or Europe.
