Help needed : Technology issue

A lot of spam mails are being generated from an old hardly used mail id of mine - Hotmail.

Its a link to something that keeps getting sent, the link does not open either.

I learnt of it when someone called to inform me.

Can somebody pls help me to get rid of this embarassing situation.

I don`t know if it will help ,but try changing the password of the account.

Happened to me also I changed the password and it worked for a few months but now it started again.

I don't think its sent by your email, it could be whats known as Spoofing.

If anyone is using your domain name to send mail then it means he is spoofing the email address. Spoofing is sending but not using your mail server, and its really hard to stop. The only way to avoid is using some kind of SPAM filters.

well what u can prolly do is ask all of ur contact lists to block ur emil address and ..u should strt anew...

A spoofer can either have access to ur email...or may have gained the necessary data(usually encrypted) tht they need to attach ur header to there outbound mail..its almost always automated.

IN any case ull have to terminate ur account.

Well, why don't you terminate your old email Id's account if it's not necessary or much important. Maybe that can help. Or else if things are getting out of hands so you can directly contact MSN through their Website. Whenever i have some this kind of problem, i directly contact them and it helps alot.
