Damn, what's wrong with helicopters lately...

RIP to the deceased.

Apparently the fog has been the main reason of the crash,both for this incident and the one in Turkey.

Apparently the fog has been the main reason of the crash,both for this incident and the one in Turkey.

Pilots normally do not attempt to fly in zero visibility close to the ground unless it is an emergency.

If in flight you avoid landing in fog and revert to alternate and if on the ground you do not take off in thick fog especially with passengers. Helicopters do have the ability to hover and fly at much lower airspeeds which gives them a lower visibility minimums, however even then you need outside visual reference to maintain clear of objects when close to the ground especially in mountainous terrain.
