if you have the military channel ( before military channel it was Wings ) they are comming up with a series of the Future wars starting next month..

Wow the series sounds quite interesting!

I am currently watching a really good series on the Suez crisis on the BBC.

Series or books such as this one whilst not always accurate can sometimes allow your mind to explore other possibilties (no matter how ridiculous) !
And if you have most possiblities covered then you have less cance of being surprised!

1. it merely celebrated the fact that it survived the IDF onslaught which isn't so much of a deal if you're employing guerilla war tactics and also using the civilian population as a buffer.

2. Sure IDF suffered a surprising setback in that it failed to eliminate Hezbollah completely, but a few tanks destroyed and a naval vessel damaged doesnt really amount to defeat.

1. I have disagree that they were employing guerilla tactics, Hezbollah fought a war where both sides held territory and fought bitterly for it. This is at odds with guerilla tactics as practised by the Taleban in Afghanistan and Sunni Iraqi insurgents. Fallujah was an exception and even in Ramadi the insurgents rarely meet full blown U.S. incursions head on. They simply melt away to fight another day.

2. IDF threw everything it had at Hezbollah, the intensity and accuracy of the IDF bombing and artillery campaign was no less than Israel has conducted against another other Arab army. It is true that not many ground troops were deployed, but if anything that allowed the IDF to minimize casualities which would have been even higher.

Moving along..........................

Ok i have another book here which some of you might find interesting.

It's called the "Forgotten soldier" by Guy Sajer

It is one of the best books on war i have ever read. Most books of this nature are full of hyperbole but this one had me gripped.
