Happy Raam Navmi to all

.
I thought majority of Hindu beliefs have been derived from the teachings of BUDDAH . or atleast there were some Buddah techings in Hinduism . Just asking coz i have very limited scope of hindu religion ..?

Hinduism actually have evolved over a period of time. Yes it also has some teachings from buddah also. You will be surprized to know that in entire hindu religon there is no word called hindu. In fact there is nothing called hindu as per hinduism. there is no proper word in hindi or sanscrit which can actually be translated to religion or mazhab in urdu.

.
no actually avatars are the reincarnations only so gods cannot be considered that. Avatar is god who come in human form on earth. Gods are heavenly beings which are provided with certain tasks to take care. At times they can be compared with the ancient greek gods to an extent.

As i said the belief for supreme being is divided among people. Some consider Shiv, some as vishnu and some as durga.

There are total 10 avtaar of vishnu, of which 9 have already taken place and one would take place at the end of kaliug (If you dont know about kaliyug let me know i ll ellaborate.).

And Who gives these tasks to them?

P.S. You can always stop me asking questions if you feel uncomfortable - I am asking just for my personal knowledge but you can always stop me asking as I know religion is a very sensitive topic.

kyoun bhai koi shaq?

do you think i don't fast during Ramadhan? so i wouldn't know about it? and i have read few books about hinduism also so whatever Adwitya is saying is correct a part from Budha's question. I believe Buddha was the founder of Budhism and he is not the Avatar of Vishnu like Adwitya said

Zaki thats controversial actually. some people belive it some dont. so there is no hard line fact if he was if he wasn't. for those who believe he was he is an avataar and those who dont believe he is not

thats because Hinduism is not a religion............

are naa re nothing like that yaara u can ask though i am not a religious man but i do have some knowledge.........

actually these tasks are predesignated. I am not sure who assigned these tasks. but thats a nice question will try to figure it out. Like entire heaven is under the control of Indra just like Zeus in greek culture.

If you go by actual defination of religon no it is not and if you go by like what we say in everyday life yes it is....

Actually hinduism roots to time period when there were hardly any religions present so there was hardly any need to devise a word equal what we have religion today. though some people translate it to dharm but literally dharm has very diffrent meaning. Hinduism is more of way of life.

The term hindu comes from the river sindhu and denotes people living on the side of sindhu. so we people came to be known as hindus over the period of time.

yup right...but you know na..religion/faith has become so much complicated these days, people are killing each other.. so I prefer to keep it simple and believe in my faith say Jesus in my case but I respect all others faith without digging into its root and authenticity..I personally feel that faith is a personal matter and never insult others faith on ground of authenticity of their belief ....you and me have not seen more than 100 yrs so all is about faith..Praise the lord. :-)
you are right bro, people get very sensitive with religion, which is quite understandable.

lahori namak.

Generally who are not good at fasting and are not capable are allowed to take fruits but no what we call as annn... (like wheat rice maze and all )

and of course we cannot have non veg during this time.

 interesting to know that there's some NAMAK from my city :P

So annn is basically food which contains lots of carbs if am not mistaken?

kyoun bhai koi shaq?

no shaq ha ha, i was just trying to say there are others (other than drinking and eating) which we are not supposed to do while fasting ;)

so there are gods who come to earth to take care of matters assigned to them.
and the view on who is the god of gods is divided within hinduism.

ok i have got it till here. now lets leave the supreme god aside and move on.

how many other gods are there other than Shiv, Vishnu and Durga?
and does each of these gods come to earth many times lik Vishnu came in form of Ram and Krishna?

and i dont know wat Kaliyung is.

thanks in advance:tup:

ok cool, thanks dude.

so basically to me it's like - there some other ultimate supreme power WHO assigns these tasks, but yeh please do find out - always interesting to know

Just like we were told not to drink alcohol or eat pork and we always agreed without giving it a thought why it was forbidden but then later on I tried to understand why we do or don't do certain things, what are the reasons behind them. That's how it should be, seeking knowledge should never be stopped.
cheers :coffee:

your pirzada saab the 10th Avatar of Vishnu is called "Kali" and i am not saying but some peoples say Prophet Muhammad S.A.W was that avatar  because the predictions/signs given about the 10th Avatar were fullfilled during the time of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.W

I am not going to argue neither defend this but i have read it quite a lot of time with detail :yahoo: (just a note ...... no need to reply to this post)

It's the opposite. Gautam Buddha was a son of a Hindu King. Hindu beliefs are older then Buddhism.

And since you said you do not know much about Hinduism, then I must tell you that Hinduism is not much of a religion like Islam or Christianity. In Islam people have one above all - Allah. In Hinduism there are maybe around 33,00,00,000 Gods. And a person can give preference to any God. In north, there are hardly any Durga temples. In Bengal, Durga is the mightiest Devi(Lady God).

Jwaharlal Nehru, states in his book, The Discovery of India, that Hinduism is NOT a religion, but a tradition. There is no particular religious book(People say it to be Gita, but Gita was written way later, than the advent of Hinduism). Also, Hinduism is formed of diverse traditions and has no single founder, like Jesus or Mohammad.

People living in Hind, are called Hindus. There are people with different beliefs, different values, different rituals. So except for some basic commonlaties, Hinduism does not bind people with some set of laws. Like if you follow these rules, then you are Hindu, otherwise not. It's not like that. I hope you got the difference against the commonly held notion about Hinduism.

Here's a definition, if you want it short,
Hinduism does NOT have a "unified system of belief encoded in declaration of faith or a creed", but is rather an umbrella term comprising the plurality of religious phenomena originating and based on the Vedic traditions.
