Only MQM was in the coalition which took action against lal masjid goons .. In my wild guess PTI and other right wingers were all against operation lal masjid.

In a democracy desirable change doesn't occur by waiting for others to act but by the citizen, personally, acting himself. Of course, people are scared of violence. That means picking the battles for truth and justice you have some chance of winning, not joining up with the bad guys.

Having said that on a positive note there is some realization for eg the ruling PML. N was right wing they are now questioning & fighting Extremists of all forms in Punjab. So there is a little ray of hope , lets see with time we will know.

Questioning extremists is not the same as fighting them. It's never good to have blind faith in pols, much better to hold them to account - not just in elections but street demos, newspapers, and debates. Always keep a close eye on what they're doing and make them justify when decision-making takes place behind closed doors rather than in public. Too many Pakistani politicians and gov't officials serve their time to rake in the dough and then flee abroad to convince me they're willing to invest themselves in fixing Pakistan's problems, rather than taking their investment problems out of Pakistan.

It's a start, Europe took centuries to finally get rid of the Church's role in politics. It will take a lot of time and probably destruction until Pakistanis get rid of the current rot.

A lot of wars and deaths were involved before that happened. Kings sending out their loyalty-blinded subjects to wars of ambition rather than defense, then secular tyrants doing the same but on a larger scale, such that historians still debate whether the result has been beneficial or not.

What is clear is that too few Europeans chose to fight for truth, justice, and liberty rather than glory, wealth, or race. The result was sixty million dead in the two world wars of the previous century.
