Hamid Mir Attacked | TTP Claims Responsibility

.
Pakistan Defence condemns this attack and wishes Mr Mir a speedy and full recovery.

Amen to that. because a Hamid Mir without his signature mocking smile and condescending tone while describing Pakistan military wont bring the necessary ratings and viewings to Geo channel.

and a person like me would feel pity for him if there is any ever lasting damage on him. that said I must confess that I wont cancel my afternoon tea over this news

An interesting comment was made by Ansar Abbasi in his call around 6:15-20
He said that he and Hamid Mir had this discussion that plans are in place to get Musharraf out..
But the bigger question is, what was he in Karachi for. Because shooting blanks by anyone on the identity of the killer is all good for rabble rousing but has zero value in figuring true motive out. Just because the assailant was wearing a white Shalwar Kameez , everyone decides that it is the uniform of a particular agency. Do they have a patent on it or something? Because I was wearing one yesterday and I could be sued for impersonating a officer.
I am not saying that this party is guilty or this isnt, but the usual suspects logic may not always work unless you know the motive of Hamid Mir's meeting. He was in Karachi, quite possibly to meet someone I suppose.

Now who was he going to meet/run a story on?
Karachi is involved in stories of TTP, BLA, Missing persons and MQM.. Which of these four routine stories related to the city could it have been to warrant an attack on him.
The Middle two seem to have the links with "those who shall not be named" as per the Journos.. while the first and last could be anyone. Is there a TTP breeding ground in Karachi being kept secure by certain elements? Are those two suspects in the Scotland Yard case ready to move in Karachi?

Till we know(or dont know) what he was in Karachi for(maybe just to meet a friend).. all this is speculation.
At the end, I would like to say one thing regarding the suspicion being on a covert government institution; are those that do suggest that it is them saying that an organization with highly trained operatives who go through rigorous selection which includes the ability to hit the bullseye at 50 yards with small arms consistently.. being accused of carrying out an attack in which they technically missed?

Pakistan goes a notch up in the "the most dangerous countries for journalists list".

Best of luck, May he get back in his reporting chair soon.
now you being modest

it is top of the list of most dangerous country for journalists

. . .
This is so wrong, first they tried to kill Raza Rumi and now again attack on Hamid Mir.

condemnable in strongest possible words...

.
3 bullets hit #HamidMir, two on shoulders, one in stomach but no blood in the back seat of the car, just a broken glass. #Interesting!

Have you've been in the car?

Why am I reminded of all the F-ed up theories in wake of Malala's shooting?

:D

I didn't check on the list before posting.

But on a serious note - he brings flavour to the media - where's the fun in killing off anyone questioning the system?

.
as they recovered 9mm shells from the scene of crime - so they must have shot from close distance,

but not sure if the attackers were the sam group

the first ones were definitely our "angry brothers" who attacked Rumi

these ones cant be the "brothers" unless they confused him for a shia doctor ( a specie on the verge of extinction in Pakistan)
