KARACHI: Geo News senior anchorperson Hamid Mir was injured in a firing incident in Karachi on Saturday, Geo News reported.
According to reports, unknown armed men ambushed Mir’s vehicle at Natha Khan bridge. He received bullet injuries and was shifted to a private hospital.
Geo News reporter Afzal Nadeem Dogar said Hamid Mir was traveling from Karachi airport to the Geo office when he was attacked.
Four gunmen riding two motorcycles opened fire on Hamid Mir’s car a few kilometers away from the Airport police station.
Geo News Islamabad bureau chief, Rana Jawad says Hamid Mir spoke to him after being attacked and said that the gunmen were following him and continue to fire at the car.
Geo News correspondent Fahim Siddiqui reports that gunmen continue to fire on Hamid Mir’s car from near the airport to Karsaz which is a distance of approximately 6 kilometers.
In November 2012, explosives were found under the vehicle of Mir in Islamabad when he had gone for some work with his driver and parked his car for a little.
The bomb disposal squad was immediately called in to remove the bag after which it was revealed that the bag contained half kilograms of explosive material that was diffused by the squad.
Mir had vowed to raise his voice for truth and justice.

Did the attackers, by any chance, say while shooting "THIS IS SPARTA"?
@Zarvan & @Imran Khan , I am shocked to see your conversation. The fact that you both, at opposite fringes, are agreeing with one another is a sure shot sign that there is plenty of good in Hamid Mir. If neither of you likes him and his stances, then Hamid Mir must be doing something very right.
Though MQM and TTP have threatened him in the past. This time, I am quite sure that it is the job of rogue elements within our establishment.
I hope that he is OK, otherwise MQM will likely get the blame. My feeling is that it would not be a good thing. MQM has more urgent matters to attend to (take care of internal dissension and such) and thus chances are that they are not involved in this.
I've prayed for him. I've asked my mother to pray for him. I hope him best of health and good recovery.
Who ever shot him should know that "MARNAY WALAY SAI BACHANAY WALA ZYADA TAQATWAR HAI".
Hamid Mir, please do not ever quit. You are brave and I believe in your honesty, even if you do sometimes err in your judgement.
