Hamid Karzai confronts Pakistan leadership

A bad workman always quarrels with his tools..................when he couldn't do along side US And NATO forces from last 10 years now they are playing blame games just to blame others about their failures.

All Pakistani ppl could you just answer the simple question of mr. Hamid karzai instead of trolling

At one point, apparently directing his remarks to Pakistan's foreign minister, Hina Rabbani Khar, Karzai asked: "Would you be willing to stop girls studying in schools and university in Pakistan?" The Taliban, when it ruled Afghanistan in the 1990s, stopped the education of girls and banned women from working.

Pakistan hosts neighbours for summit talks
Afghan and Iranian leaders due to meet Pakistani president in Islamabad for meeting focused on regional co-operation.

17 Feb 2012

The leaders of Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan are expected to discuss regional peace efforts [Reuters] The leaders of Iran and Afghanistan are meeting Pakistani officials in Islamabad for summit talks aimed at bringing about a lasting peace in the region.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai are set to hold three-way talks in the Pakistani capital on Friday with President Asif Ali Zardari.
Pakistan says the summit will focus on co-operation on counter-terrorism and transnational organised crime including drug and human trafficking, border management and trade issues.
"Multifaceted co-operation among Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran, being close neighbours, was essential to address the challenges and exploit opportunities in the region," Zardari was quoted as saying ahead of the talks.
The meeting comes at a key juncture in peace efforts with the Taliban and amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel.
Negotiating with Taliban
Afghanistan's Karzai, who arrived in Islamabad on Thursday, appealed for Pakistan's help in negotiating a peace deal with Taliban fighters.
He told the Wall Street Journal newspaper in an interview published on Thursday that talks among his government, the US and the Taliban had taken place in the past month.
If true, it would mark a significant development because until now the Taliban had said they would only negotiate with the Americans, contending that Karzai was a puppet leader and that their movement was the legitimate ruler in Afghanistan.
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid denied Karzai's comments that negotiations had already taken place. "The Taliban did not talk with the Kabul government anywhere," he said in a statement.
Strained relations
The remarks come amid strained relations between the Afghan and Pakistani governments.
Pakistan is regarded as a key player in any peace process due to its historical ties with the Taliban, which mean Islamabad could help bring them to the table or complicate relations.
Karzai has said Pakistan's support is "critical to the success" of an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process and reconciliation.
His office said talks with Zardari and Yousuf Raza Gilani, Pakistan's prime minister, would focus on expanding relations, economic ties and "enhanced co-operation" on ending 10 years of war in Afghanistan.
Pakistan, whose intelligence agency allegedly backs elements of the Taliban, says it will do what is required by Kabul to support an Afghan-led peace process, but there is a wide degree of scepticism in Afghanistan and the United States about its sincerity.
Facing 'tremendous challenges'
Tajjudin Millatmal, an Afghan analyst in Kabul, told Al Jazeera that Afghanistan would need its neighbours to get on board with any decision it mad towards achieving lasting peace.
"It is very important for the sustainable peace in Afghanistan that the neighbouring countries will be comfortable with the decision that has been taken," he said.
However, he said Afghanistan would face "tremendous challenges".
"They have to realise the interests of the neighbouring countries and consider those. However, if they give up too much to those neighbouring countries that will create a huge backlash within the country against the government.
"If they keep the negotiation process [as it is], then the neighbouring countries will continue their interference in Afghanistan and continue the current situation. So this is a very sensitive issue."
Iran, which neighbours Afghanistan and Pakistan, is also important to the future stability of Afghanistan and in the past has supported campaigns against the Taliban.
However, Ahmadinejad's trip coincides with rising concerns from the West over Tehran's disputed nuclear programme.
Meanwhile, tensions between Israel and Iran are also rising following an attack in India on an Israeli diplomat, an attempted bombing in Georgia and a botched bomb plot in Thailand - all of which Israel has blamed on Iran.
Iran has denied any links to the incidents.

Karzai came to Pak to get support for re electing next election again. It seems Pak has refused to re assure his support. Because most probably US is not happy with this guy. Specially heavy poll rigging in last election. Plus he is not able to bring any rival faction on peace talk. He spend all his time selling drugs. But next election .....its surrounded by to many regional changes.

Taliban are Afghans and they're doing a better job keeping the peace than the government.

Otherwise Warlords would be able to run around and commit crimes like this.

Karzai is asking very serious questions and at the same time making some severe insinuations.
Afghanistan has been in the hands of his Muppet puppet government and their financiers the USA. In 10 years plus have they been unable to resolve their issues in the land they are managing? Do you feel that Pakistan is responsible for the shortcomings in their nation. I think they have had long enough to sort their own created mess and should not look at 3rd parties to blame. I think it is a shameful attribute to have to blame ones neighbor for ones own shortcomings and faults.

You are 100% right in what you are saying but again that is the failure of our so called leaders who cannot or willing not putting this person on right place.... They should have question his position as president or ability to do the job properly...

He knows his place after when USA leave the area, so thats why he is after Pakistan to make sure, somehow people accept this system in Afghanistan but things are not going in his favour....

Our leaders are without doubt weak two timing corrupted poison - that is a separate issue that we could be here all day!
Its the way he speaks as a guest in our nation. He doesn't come to the negotiation table with clean hands. He should have built his relationship with the Taliban years ago. He should have made an effort instead of touring round Dubai and looking for the best place to purchase for himself out of the Afghanistan coffers.

On one hand Pakistan wants the US to leave. On the other hand, by backing the Taliban, Pakistan makes most Afghans want the US to stay.

What we really want is to see sane Indian, but I guess that is too much to ask for....most are fine, however some are so darned stupid that they overshadow the majority with their insane stupidity! You are a prime example!

The answer is quiet simple, Talibaan never prevented girls from going to school, they highly encouraged education and it was during their reign that girls got their own schools and were actually getting an education. There has been a carefully embedded layer upon layer web of lies and deceit against the Talibaan.

The meaning of word Talibaan is "Students" itself....so how can the real students prevent anyone from education. Hopefully you got your answer and hopefully you will take necessary steps to answer similar questions raised by your countrymen before I have to! That is your moral obligation now.

This happens everywhere in every society even in Pakistan but does that mean you should have Taliban rule to end this?

@Topic, I think there wasn't anything so bad happened in this meeting which media has portrayed; I am sure things like this happens every in each day with country rulers.

If it was so bad he shouldn't be allowed to give any statement in some national defense institute of Pakistan in Islamabad just after the meeting; I think it was just a hard talk.

You are spreading this from your own stomach, name those schools please which Taliban built for those girls?

It's ironical that the posters here rooting for a Taliban rule in Afghanistan don't want it for themselves in Pakistan. And, to add a moral angle to all this. Brilliant!
