HAL unveils engine for Trainers, Biz Jets. The HTFE-25.

Ok, thank you for that relevant but unwarranted info.

Had it been the other way around, you would have had both engines: A smaller engine in that class for trainers which would have helped sort out the R&D process. and a bigger engine called Kaveri that would have had a greater chance for success from day one.
sir have you seen the movie "sargent bilgo" i guess baboons in MOD & DRDO wanted to mint money & stay unaccountable than than anything else

Having worked on GE Frame 7 type engine, it's not that big a deal anymore. Think CAD/CAM software, CNC and automatic manufactring, think consultants.

PSU's must spin off their tech. to pvt. Co.''s. Note that almost every prestigious project is sabotaged from within and key engineers end up dead. Competition, industrial espionage and sabotage are rife in such Indian projects. And their marketing sucks.

Yes, vested interests in India, the politician - criminal nexus works against India from top to bottom. Defence contracts is were all the big boys' patronage and commissions come.

India will make it in aerospace biz. India has friends in the biz. Demand and most imp. -Govt. and finance. Major pvt. Co's like Tata, Reliance and Mahindra are established re. Global buy-outs. After textile, steel, Rail, IT, Auto, Pharma, Civil Nuke and Outerspace/Cosmos tech, old fashioned aerospace is totally do able.

Indonesia did it with collaborarions and stumled, Iran did it re. US sanctions and many smaller EU and US/Canada Co.'s are losing out re. recessions.

In core sectors like defence, India still pushes old school 'indigenous-shindiginous'. Globalisation means America's old enemies Germany and Russia and even China are fully in on supply chains.

Modi's Make-in-India includes assemble or integrate in India. All good.

Awesome news. We are weak in Aero engine, Material science, Some what in Seeker technology and in Howitzers. It is very nice to see that we are strengthening over selves in all area except material science. Deshi gun is coming up so as Deshi engine and Desi seekers. Great going India.

The first step should have been an engine of a basic trainer .

But I wish luck to them.

Straight way attempting Kaveri was a bit ambitious. Everything has their learning curve and learning effect. The route we took was very steep. Any way that failure taught us a lot. We are on the path of being successful. K10 shall be next.
Even this 25 KN engine has a lots of applications starting from trainer to small passenger jets. Its uprated and derated engines will have wide range of applications. We must make them more and more reliable like GE , Snacma etc.

I couldn't find both the engines' t/w ratio

Kaveri is not the product of HAL but GTRE. HAL has its own Engine R&D facility

This is a gradual way to boost our capability. Next should be the 50 Kn Engine of AURA fo;;owed by 120 KN engine for LCA MK3 and Aura.

Kaveri had already developed 53kN dry thrust by 2011. So, making an engine of 25kN to even 50kN is no longer a big deal. It is simply a spin off
