What's new

HAL to play critical role in fifth gen aircraft

- 2010 IOC of LCA MK1
- 2011 start of mass production and involvement into Pak Fa development
- 2013 induction of MK1 into service and IOC of MK2
- 2014 induction of 2nd MK1 squad, start of mass production of MK2, induction of first MMRCA squad and start of FGFA redesign
- 2015 induction of MK2, start licence production of MMRCA, possibly induction of some Pak Fa
- 2016 IOC of FGFA and start of AMCA

THAT SOUNDS A MARVELOUS PLAN OF ACTION SIR.
I REALLY WISH THEY FOLLOW THE SAME.

. .
it would be more logical if they would go like this:

- 2010 IOC of LCA MK1
- 2011 start of mass production and involvement into Pak Fa development
- 2013 induction of MK1 into service and IOC of MK2
- 2014 induction of 2nd MK1 squad, start of mass production of MK2, induction of first MMRCA squad and start of FGFA redesign
- 2015 induction of MK2, start licence production of MMRCA, possibly induction of some Pak Fa
- 2016 IOC of FGFA and start of AMCA

Looking at the history of Teja's development this timeline doesn't go down my logic, at least!
Starting from next year you are mass producing new platform almost every year till 2016!

Even if all go along your dreams than it will be a near impossible for InAF to maintain so many platforms at the same time.
Allow me to have the count:
1-SU-30
2-Mig-29
3-Mig-26
4-Mig-21
5-Mirrage-2000
6-Jaguar
7-LCA block1
8-LCA block2
9-MRCA
10-PAK-FA
11-AMCA

Have i missed any thing?

LCA replaces Mig-21. The bombers Jaguar and MIG 27 will be replaced if Super hornet is chosen I think. Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft replaces jaguar, mirage, and MIG 27 for sure.

So

MKI
LCA
MRCA
FGFA
AMCA

are the expected future

Yes, you did! Like the others already told you, the new fighters are replacements for the older once, so except of 2 squads of Mig 27, all will be replaced by MKI, all the Mig 21 that will be phased out till 2012 will be replaced by LCAs, the remaining Bisons will be replaced in numbers by MMRCAs and so on. It's an ongoing modernisation of the fleet, not an addition of all these types and in that. IAF Chief stated that the plan is to have only 4 - 5 different types of fighters around 2020.
You also missed that in those 6 years that I mentioned, we only would mass produce LCA and MMRCA, so only 2 types! Pak Fa, if it comes at all, will be delivered from Russia directly, only FGFA is meant for production in India and that from 2017 on, AMCA production is even planed around 2025.
