The F-16 design is over 40 years old, with the first flight taking place in 1974, and the design has undergone several upgrades since then. While the F-16 is still a highly capable aircraft, newer 4th generation fighter jets such as the Tejas, Gripen, Rafales, Eurofighter Typhoon, and Chengdu J-10C have benefitted from advancements in technology and engineering that have allowed them to offer superior performance in various areas, such as avionics, stealth features, maneuverability, range, and weapon systems. However, it's important to note that the F-16 remains a widely-used and proven platform, with a long history of successful combat operations, and it continues to receive upgrades and modernization programs to keep it relevant.

But it is a very good replacement for mig21

Providing the data to prove your point is necessary. Name-calling won't make your point valid. That doesn't prove anything.

As a polar bear, I can say that Tejas are crap and can't even stand up to a rickshaw.
Only when you provide the data to support your argument, can I reply and determine whether the Tejas, F16, or any fighter jet is good or bad. The decision should be based on the specifications of the particular jet in question, rather than empty rants.

The Tejas are a beautiful small planes. It would have been a plane to be proud of for Indians if it was indicted about a decade and half ago. It’s currently a vanity product rather than war fighting system.

That's your opinion and is based on your bias more than anything else. Tejas Mk1s have been participating in international exercises, going up against F-15s, Rafales, Typhoons and even F-35s. That is to hone the warfighter's skills and also to validate tactics and look for areas of improvement for the Tejas Mk1.

The upcoming Tejas Mk1A will be one of the most capable fighters in the IAF with a host of avionics improvements over the Tejas Mk1. And the IAF has committed to 126 Tejas Mk1/Mk1A not for vanity but for their utility.

If rumours are to be believed, there are more Tejas Mk1As in the offing with HAL having increased it's production capacity to 24 with the setting up of the third assembly line for the Tejas at HAL Nashik.

It was taken during Exercise Cope India 2023. Obviously they are going to simulate missiles like the Astra and Derby BVRAAM. Why carry live or inert missiles when the object of the exercise is to simulate them and see how it works in an exercise?

I was looking more for the ACMI pod, which is used to track the fighter in an exercise. An Israeli ACMI pod from a company named BVR was selected by the IAF for integration with multiple fighters including the Tejas.

Tejas is superior to other fighter jets in the IAF due to its advanced technology such as composite material, fly-by-wire flight control system, advanced avionics, and electronic warfare capabilities. The MiG-21 was the backbone of the Indian Air Force (IAF) for several decades. First Tejas Mk1A will likely be ready earlier than the original target date of February 2024, thanks to HAL targeting to deliver more than 16 Tejas Mk1A per year from 2025 onwards by using the newly established Tejas assembly line at HAL Nashik.
