HAL sets up second Tejas production line to produce three aircraft per year

For those elite members with comprehensive problem.
HAL has converted the erstwhile Kiran hangar to set up this additional production line.

The second line when fully operational can produce three aircraft per year. HAL Chairman T Suvarna Raju told Mathrubhumi that his team is committed to delivering the remaining series production Tejas platforms without any delays.
The additional facility has been set up notwithstanding the approval from Ministry of Defence for another full-fledged Tejas production line. This is to augment the Tejas production so that the Indian Air Force could strengthen the No 45 Squadron.

HAL awaits the crucial Cabinet Committee on Security nod for the third Tejas production line. Around 30,000 sq meters of HAL land has been identified near Nekkundi for setting up structural assembly hangar, process shop and sheet metal shop, among others.

This elite guy is trying to troll as per his paranoia..
It's a production line which will assemble 3 aircraft/year,not a production unit.
Now per year production rate is 12..16 aircraft per year can be expected from late 2017 or 2018 when cabinet committee approves another production line.
Same way MKI was started with two aircraft per year with a single production line..Now we produce 18 MKIs per year..

production line or production unit
3 aircraft per year is a joke

I have worked on low volume production lines - it tends to be 70-80 per year

The new tarmac at LCA Division for No 45 Squadron is capable night operations as well.

As reported earlier, a 2400 sqm LCA Final Assembly hangar with annexe building has already been established. Also, a state-of-the-art painting facility is operational now.

“This is the first of its kind in the country. It has a wet type downdraft paint booth facility,” adds Sridharan.

Its a production line not production unit
No. Of aircraft will manufactured will increase every year

2-3 units per year tend to be prototypes
For now yup..
We will be seeing huge production rate when MK1A comes & it's order amount is very high..
Also by next year the production rate will be 16 there is no doubt.16 is a very good number.

I am not dissing the HAL for low production capacity. Low numbers has its challenges with respect to maintaining quality
