HAL pushes for AESA Equipped LCA Tejas Mark I-A (LCA-1P) as interim improved version of Mark I

i am not saying tejas is not a bad fighterplane but not better than jft in some terms but good in some of them
eg it has aesa radar but range is not good than jft of klj 7v2,
klj7v2=145km at 5m2
elta =100km at 3m2

AESA radar of tejas uttam has been rated at 94 ~ 100 km for a 2 msq target. At 5 msq you are looking at 130 - 140 km estimated. Do bear in mind AESA is leagues ahead of pulse Doppler.

Elta has 100 km for 2 msq in tejas mk I. So radar ranges are comparatively same assuming jf 17 has moved beyond the 130 km radar quoted for blk ii in an interview by some Pakistani air chief.

Bottom line - mk IP is way ahead of blk ii. Blk ii doesn't even have promised A2A refuelling probe and a viable HMDS.

i got the news from aviation forums, they said blk2 has improved avionics, strengthened wing roots so it can carry an additional 3,000lb of stores, further-optimized maintenance provisions and improved operational capabilities.

The pic right there states 94 km for 2 msq target range. The 130 km for blkii radar is this one

HAL rates its radars on 2 msq mark. Go figure the rest.

First it was the fault of kick-backs now it is fault of government for not giving funds? What next, aliens invaded earth?

Private sector works on their own funds, DRDO and PSUs waste public money and government's time.

Maybe you do not know that LCA is not in the same league as Rafale or EF-2000. That is why not a single international defense think tank has ever counted LCA as world's top 10 fighters. LCA is a Mig-21 replacement which should have been ready by the 90s but it is still not considered air-worthy.

And for how many seconds will the LCA last against F-16s, EF-2000 and Rafale?

India need more people. Unfortunately, most Indians here care more about bragging than substance.

Any Update on Uttam?
testing for air to air mode is over while testing for air to ground mode is done but still will take at leat 6 months to intigrate all the relevent softwares on UTTAM but as of now israeli EL-2052 will be there on at least first two squads of LCA1p

from rubbish wht u wrote here u r claiming that it is better than bars 29 pesa radar which is 105 km at 3m2
so 90something km at 2m2
write facts with prove

that the range for kljv1 for 130km@ 5m2 and 80km @ 3m2
but
klj v2
145km@5m2
105@3m2

They should have first developed and handed over the MK-I instead of the whole tamasha... MkI itself is too late... I wouldn't blame your airforce but these sarkari babus and HAL & ADA..

My opinion..

This is what happens when your air officials try to give the developers an undercut!!It all started with that fuckked up decision by the IAF and MoD to sideline the HAL and its ARDC and set up a whole new agency named ADA,under the aegis of the DRDO!!Who the **** does a thing like that??!!It was the HAL that had gained all the experience wrt aeronautics,through the decades of its license production of British and Soviet jets and engines and ideally they should have been the leading agency in designing and developing the LCA to begin with.But no,the IAF and GoI had to duplicate the facilities,with setting up the DAD and GTRE,just to show the engineers in the HAL who the boss were.And the rest is history.

be realistic, HAL can not even sought out IJT and other trainer programs it's been working on for years and you expect it to reduce 800 kgs.

The same is the history of ISRO and DRDO who failed initially before a rocking success. I Am optimistic. 300 KG balast and 200 kg from landing gear can be slashes very easily. Tejas is an over engineered aircraft. Do you know A3's weight was reduced to 22 tons from initial 48 tons? Even if they reduce 600 kg and make some aerodynamic improvement along with intake redesign than also this plane can rock. Tejas has many goodies and few problems. We have to remove the problems to make it one of the best.

Whatever you have asked, is to be done in mk2
We are going for mk2' because in mk1 we were not able to achieve it.

If it is possible on MK2 which is going to fly in 2018 than many of those things are possible in MK1+ which is planned in 2017.

@majid mehmood

You are the one speaking nonsense. I gave you a data sheet in the form of the picture.

Klj 7 block I had 105km for 5 msq.
Block ii has 130 km for 5 msq.
There is no mention of any other 145 km range radar variant of klj 7.

Bars PESA can detect a mig 29 or f 16 sized target around 2 - 3 msq at 160 km.

Go figure.

If it is made by a PSU then the first prototype should fly out by 2025. If by a foreign collaboration then hopefully sooner.

Radar is ready and needs to be attached to mk IP. Hopefully bamboo treatment of armed forces will continue and they will see sense.
