BENGALURU: State-run aircraft maker Hindustan Aeronautics Limited today said Light Combat Helicopter, the high-altitude attack helicopter, has completed performance trials paving way for finalisation of basic configuration.

Based on successful completion of remaining flight trials, HAL expects operational clearance from CEMILAC (Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification) very soon, the company said.

It said officiating Chief Executive of CEMILAC G Gouda handed over a letter on completion of performance flight trials of LCH to HAL General Manager M Vijaya Kumar in the presence of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and HAL CMD T Suvarana Raju.

The Defence Minister here today visited HAL's helicopter complex and had a detailed look on advanced features and armament fit of LCH prototypes.

"LCH is the only attack helicopter which can operate above 10000-12000 feet altitude with considerable load of armament," CMD Raju said.

LCH has completed performance flight trials which involved not only development testing at Bangalore but also trials at extreme environment conditions such as sea level at Chennai, cold weather at Leh, hot weather at Jodhpur and hot and high altitude tests at Leh, HAL said.

Accordingly, the helicopter can be cleared for weapon trials. With the finalisation of basic configuration, HAL can start production of LCH after the operational clearance, it added.

Will it be able to fire NAAG missile ?

You people are so lucky that every now and then you get a chance to see flying objects coming down. Hope you see few more in coming days.

Why there should be any saddness for Nirbhay ?

In Oct 2014 , Indian Scientists have gave statement that in the next 3 years Nirbhay will get operational clearance.

Test failed means we need validate lot of components..
Remember first failure took more than a year to fix it, that too major rejig.

Not sure why this test have failed , media is jumping on as half baked product.
Don't know how long it will take to figure out the cause for failure, and when the next test to be carried out..
It's going to be a long journey ..

Indigenous engine , Ter com/ sat guidance , various warhead tests, various platform tests ..
I think will be doing like 100 s of tests..

Good we had bhramos , we now know the path to take..

Flight of Nirbhay Missile Aborted after 700 Seconds of Launch Nirbhay Long Range Subsonic tactical cruise Missile was launched from Integrated Test Range. Chandipur at 11:38 hrs today.

All initial critical operations such as Booster ignition, Booster separation. Wing deployment and engine start were successfully executed and Nirbhay reached the desired Cruise Altitude.

During 700 seconds of flight all the subsystems of Nirbhay cruise Missile functioned satisfactorily and met all the desired functions.

The mission was aborted after 700 seconds of flight.

That's great news for India... Massive development. Our flying tanks LCH will cripple any bad intent of our enemies

Great news. Induct it quickly in large numbers. With Apache leading it will increase army capablity multifold

Will it be able to fire NAAG missile ?

Not Nag.. :nono:

Helina.. :D

Amid the nirbhay sadness, some welcome news:-)

why sad my friend??

As we "Software Engineers" say,the early detection of errors can save a lot of money in the long run as every phase of SDLC gets passed without detecting that error, the cost to modify the code multiplies..

It is better to face "Setback" during trials rather than during war..so chill.. :enjoy:
