There are mandirs in India where preg women are also not allowed neither those who are in periods.

anyway as for this news, if i understood correctly they dint banned women from visiting dargah but asking them not to enter the inner tomb. i think it has nothing to do with religion neither visiting dargahs has have anything to do with religion

There are many customs & some of them though out of date, continue. This case is different in the fact that they are changing their entry rules now, in 2012. That's why it's objectionable though the essence of your point remains valid.

Those so called scholars are not only stupid, they are destroying the reputation of Islam by doing so. In Islam, Man and woman are equal in every sphere. Yes, there are certain rules to follow so that they are well protected from sexual violation. I don't know if there were any case like that, but the solution could always be protecting a special space for women.

I have a doubt
Are religious rules documented in Islam ??

or you just follow some random Mullah who one day wakes up and calls for barring women in shrines or bans driving/education for women

I mean women were visiting this place for like 100s of years and some one comes up with an argument saying it is against Sharia.......why these guys are given freedom to bend and play with religious laws?

Everything is documented in Islam. That's why I wonder how any scholar make such remarks about this!

BG i believe if the dargah is opened to Hindus for visit then such a "ban" on women entry is unjustified and has no use. let them in.

As far as i know and understand its not a religious obligation to visit dargahs rather own personal belief when we are weak and unable to coup with personal sufferings and failures we opt for visiting such places. In my personal view kind of mediation to get solace and some power to stand up. (although the struggle has to be done by the individual but still you get a kick to start).

many Muslims in subcontinent still have idol worshiping practices specially these manat shanats.

which have nothing to do with our religion

Who cares..? If they want to go on the opposite way of modernity, its their wish.

We do.. We have to..We are living in a country where everybody has to right to worship any god they pleased and we dont want some random mullah issuing orders about who all are allowed to worship and who all are not.. Our country is better than that..

it seem to be a very regressive move to make in this day and age.

most of them think that baba ji inside are still alive and even heard that Lahore is run by a Mayor called Ali Hajveri urf Hazrat Data Ganj bakhash he appoints duties to other saint baba jis lying here and there in lahore to look after lahore :D

the legend said that the suicide bombers cannot explode here at Data's tomb as Data sahib would hold him from his neck, twist his arm and dispose off the bomb tied around him, but then came the day 2 suicide bombers skipped the eye of baba ji and exploded, yet the faithfuls kept their belief !! :D

sometimes I have doubts too but I believe all this to be true !! :D

P.S. on a serious note one should read "kashful majood" by Ali Hajveri. worth read

It takes me many years to come out of this ignorance of peeri fakiri as i grew up with brelvi and most of them called me rebel because of my thoughts against certain practices which we see in mazaar/dargaah/sufism. Yea Baba ji might be alive in life of al-barzakh. Islam is beautiful religion and very first surah of Quran which we read in every prayer إِيَّاك نَعْبُدُ وإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِين(You alone do we worship and You alone we seek for help) clear all doubts

I respect all saints and pious people throughout Islamic history and take inspiration from them . I also pray for them that God bless their soul and also show us the right path but nothing more than that. Quran say clearly that every soul shall have a taste of death. I have seen many charsi and druggy who spend day and night on data darbaar....phang pee k mast jhoom barabar jhoom..worse thing is presence of prostitutes in surrounding areas :)

Nonetheless, women, except those in the Bora Muslim community, aren’t allowed access to most mosques and many mausoleums in India, although those considered “historical monuments,” like the Taj Mahal or the Jama Masjid, permit women.
Why is that, Muslim woman are allowed in the mosques. Especially the Salafis and Shias have areas for women in mosques. Many sunni mosques also have designated areas for woman. Nearly all mosques arrange prayer for women in Tarawih and eid prayers

It is not and in Islam it is called Shirk. Shirk is something which is not forgivable in Islam. I agree many in subcontinent do shirk but not the 95% ppl. Deobandis which are the majority in Pakistan do not do that.

next step would be the banning of the woman from workplaces and assigning her the tradtional role of keeping the home and bringing out the children...mullas are you listening ?
