Bofors was their big fat kickback scandal that became public. The guns aren’t bad but they essentially came not ready to go and the items required for making them operational were lacking.
Not they aren’t fully operational now.

Our situation was limited to US and chinese pieces whcih are ok but now increasingly outdated.

Today we’ve replaced some of the towed pieces with more updated ones or at least ones with newer barrels but that still doesn’t take away from the overall obsolete nature of our equipment.
Our arty has become a lot more effective since we have added drones at regimental and datalinks down to the battery level. One of Kiyani’s innovations.

The weight and accuracy of our fire has improved greatly without having to bring in new tubes. Let’s face it, guns as are a mature technology, even newer ones only bring small improvements. Targeting acquisition and datalinks are more important these days.

Now that you noticed that. Where do you suppose the imagery came from?

Id be more concerned that this section was shown without at least blurring out the images marking OUR positions(even if the Indians have more sharp imagery and know it all)

The imagery consisting of the whole room...probably some enthusiastic photographer. The satellite imagery on the other hand, probably a Chinese satellite.

I concur with your second statement, prevention/caution is better than facing a sh!t storm from the enemy.

@Major Sam you can asses the current situation from the western border. Pakistan has made very precise strikes on the Terrorists compounds in Afghanistan in Kunar and those strikes have provided Army with Live experience and feedback of their targeting to actually test their full capability. In these 4 days of LOC tensions Pakistan took out most of the forward posts of India and they would need to rebuild them. That means that are small range shelling is also doing good damage and long range is well tested on the western border. Plus Pakistan conducted brigade level exercises in Jallalpur jattan that was to put every thing into tune. India initiated these ceasefire violations after conducting exercises as well this was just to test Pakistan. India is holding schools in border areas on vocation till 28th jan so I think they will make another provocation. Today was calm on LOC and IB but still 4 days for India to do any mischief.

But these exercises are held twice every year, once in summer and once in winter. Weren't they normal routine exercises ??

BSF, Pak Rangers hold flag meeting, India lodges strong protest over ‘unprovoked’ firing by Pak along IB

In view of repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan over the last few weeks, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistani Rangers held a flag meeting on Thursday, where India lodged a strong protest over ‘unprovoked’ firing by Pakistan along the International Border (IB), reported PTI quoting BSF. The flag meeting was necessitated after a spike in ceasefire violations along the International Border that have resulted in more casualties on both sides – among civilians and in the two militaries – than at any other time in the last 14 years.

The tension along the border has prompted civilians to evacuate their villages, and schools have been advised to shut in some areas. From only eight in January 2017, ceasefire violations by Pakistan along LoC this month stands at 134, as per Defence Ministry data. With 860 ceasefire violation recorded in 2017, January is likely to record the highest number of ceasefire violations along the LoC in 14 years. Of the 860 ceasefire violations in 2017, December accounted for 147, the highest ever so far. Pakistan has claimed there were more than 1,900 ceasefire violations last year and Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has alleged there were over 75 ceasefire violations by India in January 2018, so far. All pictures issued by ISPR are reviewed before being issued to ensure nothing is released inardvently. Many of their pictures are blurred or even photoshopped for this reason. In this case I thing it is intentional. It’s psych warfare to let the enemy know that we have them in the crosshair.

Why did we stop?

We should celebrate 26 January with some good fireworks on the LoC
