more than a thousand years ago, islam formalized ( codified, to use a fancy term ) what is now known as "court marriage" ( or other such terms )...

1. freedom delivered to the ladies to choose their husband, without consent of parents.
2. wedding need not have any parents or relatives present at all.
3. wedding is a legal procedure.
4. reasonable economic welfare of wife in case of divorce, fixed at the time of wedding.
5. yes, divorce is allowed, and can be initiated by the wife.
6. remarriage allowed, even and especially for the lady, with no technical limits.
7. family life can consist of children from spouses' previous marriages.
8. property inheritance ensures just welfare of the females involved.

that is what i can remember now, but clearly is a socialist system, which was innovation for its time and for the present too, especially for india.

having said that, it is a shame that many ( or most, really ) "muslims" in india don't follow this practical and humane system.

I didn't make your belief lesser, just answered the question. I don't know what's meaning of word Vastu Shastra, but if it's related to something like astrology or any other knowledge/skills like that than a Muslim as per his/her religious belief can't deny the existence of such knowledge/skills, because their existence is acknowledged and Muslims are advised to stay away from them these things and majics.
