Grumman will show off its sixth generation stealth jet fighter design during the Superbowl

And who is going to take care of the tank if its stuck or a tracked wheel comes off? Who is going to maintain it in the field?
The tank shuts off, a repair vehicle can follow in and take care of it. These ideas were thought up by DARPA back in the 1990's. There simply was not a priority since back then Russia was a joke and the focus since 9/11 has been on fighting a person who survives for months in caves and his only logistics are a $2 shawl, $4 clothing, $.2 plastic water bottle he reuses, a $50 dollar knockoff AK and the same in ammunition.

Even with this focus, we still maintain COMPLETE superiority in ANY 1 on 1 conventional conflict with ANY foe in the world.

Very much doubtful that the Russians already solve that problem currently with such automation. Not easy to fix the tracks and put it back on a tank, thats for sure.

Its been a awhile and the Russians are Russians who came here(and Europe) to study and learn during the Yeltsin and early Putin years. They also learnt a lot via the internet, this isnt the isolated cold war Russia. This is globalized Russia taking in information technology in all its stride. This isnt the crude non ergonomic rough and tough Russian equipment, this is stuff made using our philosophies built into that.

So these are real threats... BUT

They are not backed by solid finances to the extent where they will be a major force that will disrupt everything.

We don't know enough. This was actually a Soviet plan. They had planned to fully automate most of their tanks and fighter aircraft. Too bad we never saw it.

For example, the Soviet orbiter Buran was fully automated.

That's a problem for any tank. The tanks that cannot be recovered will be scuttled.

Their aircraft were already "automated". The Su-15 interceptor of the 1970's was essentially flown by GCI computers to an intercept. All the pilot did was takeoff and land the aircraft along with firing the weapon.

True. Su-15, Mig-29. The Mig-29 went one step further, and didn't need the pilot to takeoff and land either.

The Su-35BM goes one step further and can perform some combat missions, particularly some strike missions, without pilot input.

The PAK FA does a lot more now, and with the Stage 2 we may even see many types of combat missions automated.
