With the pace Bangladesh is growing, experts believe two decades from now Bangladesh will be the new headache for Indian military to deal with within South Asia.

Bangladesh army

Various source's put Bangladesh to grow beyond 6-7% for the next decades to come, having a large population base,Bangladesh is inevitable to become among the largest economy in the world.

A Larger Economy require a strong military for protection with Bangladesh having a defence budget beyond $30 Billion by 2028-30 will open a room for wide level upgradation and expansion of Bangladesh military with the addition upto a 0.8 million strong army supported with next generation tanks,Ballistic and cruise missiles followed by the airforce and navy having 5th generation aircraft and Destroyers still having the room open for possible launch of Aircraft carrier program

The Expansion might not stop only with conventional weapon as the new delhi worst fear is bangladesh launching Nuclear weapons program to change the dynamics of politics in south asia.

World Bank,IMF and Asian development bank has projected beyond 6% growth rate for Bangladesh this year

IMF forecasts 6.2pc BD growth in 2014 | FIRST PAGE | Financial Express :: Financial Newspaper of Bangladesh

New Delhi for long has believed to dominate the South Asia but the neighbour moral has always been high having regarded india only as a paper tiger considering the history of the modern day india geography and the people belief in give up concept

. . . . .
The writer of this article is way off the line. I can see 5th generation aircraft in that timeline, but aircraft carriers

.
So there are Zaid Hamids in BD too.

Sir but some predict there may be NO BANGLADESH after some decades.

What I read was after 50 years half of BD will be under water, ALLAH knows if its true or not.

. . . .
I really don't see how...

India is already far far larger economically and militarily compared to BD and this gap will only increase in the long term (especially the latter).

Not to mention India is unlikely to let its stranglehold on the BD leadership go anytime soon.

In the long term as the BD economy grows, the "stranglehold" india has will lessen for a number of reasons.

1: the supporters of the pro india ruling AL who are mostly those over 55-60 will start dying from old age.
2: younger generation are those who support a more nationalistic party, will continue to grow.
3: anti india sentiments are growing, even your own ministers recognise this.
4: the economy is rapidly growing, now it's reaching a point when we can afford to buy, advanced weapons.
5: BD even under the AL is looking towards China, and looking to be less reliant on india, ALs tradional allie.

I could go on and on, but the gist of this is BD no longer needs india as much.

No. The gap will lessen as BD has more scope to increase spending compared to India. Also BD will have access to advanced weapons from China at lower prices than India have to pay the West.

Also do not forget that India has a far, far more powerful China and Pakistan in the west to deal with.

China will use BD and Pakistan to contain India.
