KARACHI (GEO News): A grounded plane by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been turned into a beautiful dining hall by the Airport Security Force (ASF), giving it a look of a spacious, high-end restaurant.

PIA was one of the first airlines to fly Boeing 747, the biggest and luxurious plane of its time with a capacity for carrying 500 passengers. All 747 planes used by the PIA for a quarter of a century have now been grounded.

The spacious upper deck of the Boeing 747 has been equipped with simple yet beautiful furniture—tables, chairs and comfortable sofas. Through the cockpit, one can see the scenic view of the park— where the plane is parked—near the ASF headquarters at the Karachi airport.

The space was given to the ASF by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) free of cost, which was turned into a park by the ASF. The grounded 747 AP-BFV was also given by the PIA to the ASF free of cost.

According to reports, the dining hall will to be turned into a high-end restaurant, however, ASF sources have refuted the claims. The sources said that the plane will be part of an ASF mess which is under construction, and will serve as a dining hall.

KARACHI (DunyaNews): When metropolitan cities are seeing a growing market for themed restaurants, Karachi is now seeing a food facility inside a retired airplane of Pakistan International Airline (PIA).

The restaurant looks apt to schedule a business meeting there, take your family out for a dinner or have a casual Sunday get together with your peers.

Decent interiors. But it definitely needs more lights for its customers at night.
They could have used more mirrors and better looking tables and chairs.

Looks nice ...

The main switch hasn't been turned on yet.
I dont see any spot lights or provisions for LED strip lighting either.
The theme could have been made a lot livelier.
I'm assuming there was a budget constraint or that the restaurant is away from the city's hustle bustle.

@Levina is again frustrated. Poor girl.
I know my job too well. I have been in the field for more than 6 years now. You dont teach me how this design could have been improved upon. Lol

Don't mean to demean the interiors but i expected better. I have seen a lot of Pakistani houses with much better interiors ergo the expectation.

Interior design is not even a real job. It's just taking advantage of autistic people. Regardless of the fact, why do you seem to have such a problem? Not everything can be like India. Appreciate the differences and move on. It's obvious you have a hard time saying anything positive about Pakistan. I can understand your reason, but it's still silly to me.

Sir there are lot of ways to improvise around the aircraft's structure. If you look at the ceiling they have already provided a false celiling with gypsum. Something similar could have been done with bulkheads and mirrors to make the place better.
Even the table and chairs look not so high end. But then i guess this could be a reason>>>

Not really into interiors. Corporate training and designing is a part and parcel of my job.

You might be surprised, but one of the few things that Pakistan excels at is furniture and woodsmanship. Our furniture is world renowned and the quality is absolutely one of the best. The reason for this is because there are actual craftsmen that make furniture personally, which is handmade. Also we have superior wood compared to India due to our Northern regions. Pakistani woodwork is legendary among the world.

. .
I am sure.
But that's not visible inside this aircraft.

Thats all I meant.

gosh...there u go!

What are you upset about? Should I mention the wood that is not locally available in India as opposed to Pakistan?

From bed headboards to chairs or even tables, we have very superior quality furniture in Pakistan.

This is a picture of me as a kid back in the late 80's:

The base of this bed was hand carved with superior quality of wood and also polished to give it a refined look. Just be honest and admit that it is a beautiful piece of furniture. I'm not trying to say India is bad, but what I'm trying to tell you is that Pakistani furniture is of very good quality.

Now..now..I never denied your country has "superior" crafstmen and wood availability.I was pointing at how under-utilized your resources are.
You're taking this discussion in the wrong direction.
Just be honest and admit that it is a beautiful piece of furniture.
It looks strong, but not upto my taste.
I'm sorry.

Well it may not be, because in the picture, this furniture was from the late 80's.
